2011+ 55-60mph 5.0 Shuddering and EcoBoost Engine Miss/Loss of Power - Possible Fixes

If anything, do yourself a favour and ditch the OEM platinum plugs. Platinum plugs + turbo engine =
The platinums are also impeding the already less than stellar coil packs, creating less than ideal spark, which then lowers the engine's threshold for moisture/water loading, and there's your stumble/shudder.

2011 ecoboost with 20,111 miles went into limp mode on me today, trying to make a pass in the rain towing a travel trailer. Check engine light started flashing and truck would shudder or misfire with any throttle input. Pulled over when I could ,popped the hood with truck running and all looked normal. Got back in the truck and the light went off and all was normal.
I read back about 10 pages, but there is just to many to read. Is this something to take the truck in for, or would that be a waste of my time and just caulk it up as the nature of the ecobeast.

Stay on them, I have documented all my issues and have worked with them including my regional customer service rep.
The TSB to replace the CAC was applied in March of this year. I had another incident after that work was applied. I just had a new "hot off the press, TSB applied this week. Hopefully it'll solve some of the "hunting, and shuttering" we've all witnessed. I don't know if it will fix the moisture issues, only time will tell.
Just don't give up on it, wrestle it down to the wire. Every voice counts. I love my sneakerboost, I just don't want to have another drive like you described and I've had happen as well.

Read your states lemon law, fullfill the number of visits required, tell your case manager the final the time you take it in that you want your case reviewed and you want a buyback under the provisions of your states lemon law. They will deny, fill out one hours worth of paper work, fax to bbb let them do the work, its free.
The only way ford is going to fix this problem is if people like you and I make them buy these things back, otherwise they already have our money. Mines done, I highly recommend the bbb auto line to anyone having trouble with fords cs. They genuinely are interested in helping you out.

I recommend having your dealer take a look at this concern. If you still need help after, send me a PM with your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info.

The Nightmare is Over - I am happy now
Yep I got rid of my Ecoboost too.
The worst new vehicle I have ever owned and exceptionally dangerous. I will never own another Ford. Poorly made product and dealer(s) service is substandard compared to other brands.
Yes Ford is aware of the problem.
No Ford does not have a fix for it; my intercooler was replaced twice as well as the cat mufflers. After all the engine damage I would be lucky to get 15MPG on level ground with no load at 60MPH. It does not have any power either because the cats clogged up again within 500 milesafter the last time they were changed.
Ford is unaware of the severity of the problem. They simply do not understand the significance of inverted dew points and the damage it causes to the engine.
Yes I was already well down the road of “lemon law” but withall of life’s pressures and other demands I simply could not spend more hours on that nightmare.
A leading dealer in Dallas told me: “Even though you have very low miles we do not want your truck”. They had been forced to buy back two of these trucks and the only support from Ford Motor was the dealer has to fix it. Problem is the dealer cannot fix it because there is no solution from Ford. Ford has assumed absolutely no obligation in making a bad product good even with less than 10,000 miles. This “key” individual at a major Dallas dealership said about his 2013 Ecoboost: “As soon as the MPG’s start dropping like a lead balloon he will get rid of his truck.” The key issue is the bent rods and/or valves from the condensation damage to the engine. Since I had a ton of bumper to bumper warranty left I got rid as after he told me that….but no Ford dealer wanted it. Apparently Ford will replace the engine IF the engine block cracks or the rods pop out of the oil pan…until then you just have to suffer with the way it is.

This thread mentions the 5.0 and a shuddering issue. My 2012 5.0 has 30,000 miles and never missed a beat. Is their any consensus that the 5.0, while not the torquiest engine on the planet, is a solid long term performer?
