2011+ 55-60mph 5.0 Shuddering and EcoBoost Engine Miss/Loss of Power - Possible Fixes
Ford called and left me a voice mail while I was at work. She stated they feel its a transmission issue and that the tsb 11-10-15 I had done a couple weeks ago will solve the missing sensation. Due to the fact we have an adaptive learning trans they want me to wait 750-1000 miles before bringing it back to the dealership. Also she said not to run flex fuel or an aftermarket air filter. I got about 500 miles on the new reflash and so far the "miss" hasn't improved.
I just called Ford and got my case number. If everyone that is having this issue would do the same.....Ford would have no choice, but to try to resolve this issue ! This problem is happening on the ecoboost and other engines, so I would think it is a transmission problem and not an engine problem. That's just my opinion.
I have a 2011 F-150 ecoboost that I custom ordered in Feb this year. It was built at the end of March. I started to notice this shuddering issue in 6th gear going up slight inclines while holding a steady speed back in early fall. I've been wondering if this has something to do with the conversion to winter gas blends. Also, it doesn't happen everytime guarranteed, so I've been holding off taking the truck in. Any thoughts?

Good point. And the fact it appears to be happening in 6th gear only for me, also points towards the transmission.
Just out of curiosity, people here are stating 30-40 mph getting a drive line vibration. Are you accelerating, decelerating or in cruise. (not cruise control) what gear is your transmission in? 4th-5th-6th? engine temp, hot or cold, trans temp? does it go away if you shift up or down?
I have noted a slight drive line vibration at 50 kph (30mph) in 6th gear in a cruise condition. It feels to me like the engine is lugging. Too high of a gear and too low engine rpm. Down shift - vibration goes away, speed up to get out of lugging condition and it goes away. Only at 50 kph in 6th does this happen and I can duplicate when ever I want. Manipulating gears and speed so that either engine RPM or road speed (one or the other but not both) is similar to conditions when vibration happens and cannot duplicate. Ergo it can only be a lugging condition, not a drive line vibration.
Let the arguing begin

Subscribed! I contacted ford customer service about my rough idle and the hesitation at the bottom of 6th gear. They contacted me back the very next morning and asked me to take it to the shop... well truck is in the shop.... blizzard of 2012 is here and I'm in a stupid fusion lol... i hope they take this seriously and realize that there are at least a handful of us upset about this.
Guys this isn’t new.
Every Ford dealer is treating this as a new problem. The case workers act as if it is a new problem when you call and get your case number. It isn’t a “new” problem. This isn’t the first winter grade fuel season. Let’s not forget the Winter of 2011….
Start at the beginning of this thread and notice the posters names. You don’t see them anymore. A lot of us are exercising our Lemon Law rights. Our trucks have been in over 3 X’s for the same issue. They are acknowledging it as a problem but “don’t know how to fix it.”
This is a turbo design flaw. It is low speed compressor stall. Ford will redesign and implement the new design in their mid-2012/early 2013 trucks. It will cost them too much money to fix on ours.
This thread was started after we discovered the transmission re-flash didn’t fix the shuddering. The “transmission” threads go back to the beginning of 2011.
I am surprised how many people are “taking it on the chin” in hopes to buy a better truck next time. Really? I wish I had that kind of money to throw away.
I remember how hard every dollar of my 40K was to earn. I’m not letting Ford charge me for being their Beta tester.
