Both times were in 40 deg rainy weather when I was trying to pass someone going up a hill around 50 MPH. The truck loss almost all power and just about didn't make it to the top. The misfiring and shuttering continued and couldn't be "reset" by backing all the way off the gas. It took almost a full minute of coasting to come back to normal.

Is there something with the colder or rainier weather, "poor" winter gas, etc...?

So I haven't read all 100+ pages of this thread but am looking for the short and dirty of this problem and any possible fixes. Sounds like Ford has some TSBs and wind deflectors but what are people having the best luck with? I haven't yet been to the dealership because I wanted to do some home work first. Suggestions before I make the call?
So, it seems as if you are having the same issue I had, when I first started experiencing problems. The first thing is to get the air deflector changed on the itercooler for the turbo. There seems to be come dots connected regarding temperature and humidity/moisture. The deflector TSB is supposed to help that.
Mine did the same thing and misfired like a nasty bitch when it happened the first time it happened. Unfortunately, it was when I was trying to do a hard accelerate on an entrance ramp to an interstate full of traffic. It dogged so bad I had to pull over to the emergency lane and turn the truck off. It threw a code for a #4 cylinder misfire. The dealership changed the air deflector and reflashed the ignition system with updated software. That problem seems to have been fixed, but then I started experiencing this other issue (see my previous post about the transmission and software issues).
I really love this truck. I love the comfort, the amenities, the look...I just hope the BS is fixed now. Again, see my earlier post about what the dealer did to address the transmission problem.

Try and drive an Ecoboost in Oregon from Oct-May The performance of the my truck is all over the place and the missing/shutting/loss-of-power is a daily occurance when it's raining. Yes, I have all TSB's and was one of the first to get the $2 plastic cover for the intercooler. I'm past being frustrated, numb, pissed-off, etc. It's for sale btw LOL

Not going to try the replacement cac? Worth a shot rather than losing money selling it.

I'll let others play guinea pig for awhile. If it fixes the issue I'll definitely get my truck in ...for the 4th time. Their coffee sucks.

Theres more people claiming this new CAC has dropped power/responsiveness of the truck. Would be interesting if the tuners have looked at these new CAC's/'13 models to see if they are still going top get the gains out of them. I was hoping a tuner would bring all power back should I go after having this fix done...but not sure now. Honestly...I don't think I'm getting it done unless it will fix the shudder/miss. I've only had the loss of power twice.

Posted this in another thread as well, but for those who are subscribed to this one, here is some info. I came across today doing a random search. I haven't seen this posted before, so sharing it here as well:

I also think it would be good to throw a '13 with the new CAC on a dyno and publish the results to see how different they may be from the Ford published specs.

Someone needs to reference that link on Fords FaceBook page.

"Short and dirty" NO, there are no fixes at this point. And I doubt there ever will be. The only folks on here who have found a good fix for the problem no longer own this POS! Someday a new model might come out with the problem solved but, that will be too late for most of us existing owners for warranty purposes. I'm sure they'd be glad to fix it then on your dime though.

You guys aren't going to get anywhere with these tactics. From Ford's perspective, 95% of their problems are coming from 5% of their customers (YOU). Yes they ultimately have a responsibility to fix these and other legitimate issues with their products. They do NOT have any responsibility to YOU.

You can't please everybody, and anybody that tries to never succeeds, in any business. If you were my customers I would have bought back your "lemons", happily refunded your money, and banished you from ever doing business with me again.

The fact that these issues have been recreated on trucks that otherwise run fine have given you more than enough information to fix your own problems. Stop whining.
