for what it's worth, the factory exhaust is FAR from restrictive. the factory mufflers on theses trucks is a straight through design, as is the resonator. both of them are essentially a straight pipe with perforations in it.

I don't know the specifics of your particular situation, but based off your limited description my best guess is:

I would expect the check engine light was set because of fault code PO430 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)). There will also likely be pending faults for codes PO300,PO304,PO305, and PO306. (Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected, Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected, Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected, and Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected.)

If it hasn't already been done, they will perform the 12-6-4 TSB. This will not correct the problem, but may reduce the likelyhood of it happening. If the TSB has already been performed you will get the standard line "Ford is aware of this issue and is working on a fix." Then they will replace the catalytic converter that was damaged by this event and send you on your way.

They said the check engine light didn't have anything to do with what happened they said that the ecoboost had a tsb for a wiring or sumthing and the guy tried to recreate what happened but he couldn't get it to do it the first half was the water condensation in the ic

Okay. As I said in my post, it was just my best guess based off of the limited information I had. It may or may not apply to you.

I've gone through several catalytic converters on my truck. Every time the symptoms matched your description. Including the delayed check engine light. It appears to take a few drive cycles before the computer will set a fault for the cat.

Went to pick mine up today after cat replaced and rest of latest TSB done. Dealer had truck for 15 days waiting for parts. While waiting for paperwork saw the lot jockey drive by to run truck through their car wash. Few minutes later the head of service dept comes in and informs me that they just damaged my truck. Ran the side down the concrete door opening into wash. Got the mirror, front door, rear door, rear corner of cab, side of bed and box step. Needless to say I am not a happy camper right now. I am not going to be satisfied with that much repair work being done on my truck. Going to be some interesting meetings with managment tommorrow.

Your lucky they even admitted they did it! I had my E150 at the dealer years ago and they got grease on the inside of the car on the seats, the dog house and dashboard. They claimed it came in that way!

The finger prints were clear enough they could be identified if needed. I filed a police report for vandalism. After a bunch of crap and complaints to Ford they had to take it to a detail shop to get itl cleaned up. They still wouldn't admit they were wrong.

How long have you had the truck? How many miles?

One year and 19000 miles. The dealer is steping up with a good offer to trade for a 2013. Drove it today and right now it is running better than it has for a while.

Do you mean that your present truck is running better ? Are you going to do the trade?
