New trucks shudder ...doubt it's a wiring harness. Seems this thread is almost petering out but will pick up again in the fall/winter I expect

Perhaps ford should replace the twin turbo's with twin hair dryers

This shudder is not from the truck being "new". It is true however that colder weather was the only time mine did it...four months straight and as soon as the weather stayed warmer than 50 degrees, it was gone. Two fixes since then so we will see if it comes back once it turns cold again. Others have experienced the same thing. So I do expect an increase in posts come Fall/Winter, but not because there is another model year on the road.

My point was if anyone was considering a wiring harness to be the culprit of this problem I would assume it would be due to wear/tear, shaffing, etc. and new trucks are, well new so I personally would rule out a wiring harness to be the culprit.

Funny how this issue has been around for over a year and Ford still doesn't give a rats **** about it. Every time someone pushes the issue with Ford they blow them off and say "a few more weeks to a month and we'll have a fix"....but never do.

Don't hold your breath for a fix. The fix will be here shortly on the 2014 trucks in the form of a new 8 speed transmission.

Default Shudder

So I just got my truck back, It was in the shop since July 3. It still has the problem. The service manager advised the regional Ford engineer came and drove the truck. According to him the truck was fine. The service manager told me he has several trucks 2011 and 2012 with this issue and he would not blame me if I started the lemon law process. He also told me Ford is still investigation this problem. My decision has been made with this omission. Its clear Ford has no clue what is wrong. The service manager called two days later and said Ford was going to offer me an extended warranty if I didnt do the lemon law......I said no chance!!!!

Considering that I just received the paperwork from Ford to repurchase my vehicle, I'm guessing that they aren't close to a fix. While they could say there was a new fix coming soon, they kept delaying my repurchase. But now they are willing to buy it back.

That being said, I have more than just the shudder, I have the fall on its face loss of power when merging/passing issue as well. I'm not sure if this makes a difference for those considering the lemon law or not.

I have several other issues with the vehicle as well. I keep getting trailer disconnected messages from my TBC, occassionally get starter system fault error when trying to start, my front pax seat wobbles on the rails, mileage is around 10/16 and a few other random issues.

My problem is that I don't know what to replace it with... Anyone want to buy the plastic tailgate extender, the retractable step, a trifold cover, etc, etc that I already have for it...? ugh. Not to mention the spray in bedliner, the new homelink and other accessories that I can't remove.

Great to hear they're working with you, but bad to hear that it doesnt sound like a solution is close.

If you loved your F150, go for the 5.0L. But I understand you might be hesitant for that because of the other issues you're having. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Get the v8. Ford is over their head with the Ecoboost. This is the best and the worst truck I have ever owned.
I'm currently getting 19 mpg hand calculated 20/80 city/hwy on 92 octane. I was getting 17.5 mpg with 87.
The mpg is better with the higher octane but the shudders continue randomly at all speeds and seem to be dictated by outside temp/humidity/density altitude (pressure altitude corrected for non-standard temperature).
This is a horrible driving experience due to regular surging, shuddering etc.
Remember guys, this problem is worse in the winter (winter-blend fuel and/or colder temps) and if it bugs you a little now, you will be sadly disapointed when it comes back in full force after your Lemon Law/Buy Back options have expired.
