2011+ 55-60mph 5.0 Shuddering and EcoBoost Engine Miss/Loss of Power - Possible Fixes
To me it feels almost like a manual when you have the engine lugging so bad that skips or struggles to keep up. Since some people have problems with the 5.0 and some with the Eco I'm thinking it's some type of programming issue. I would give up 1 MPG for a strong and good running powerplant. I'm just more worried if the engine is actually skipping it can't be good for the cats.

Took my truck in last Thursday for an oil change, driver's door speaker not working, driver's window having sporatic issues, and the shudder. They ordered a new speaker, new window switch (I was surprised they didn't say they couldn't find anything wrong with the window), but refused to do anything about the shudder. The service guy said they have a truck that they took in on trade which has the problem. They are using that as a test truck for every potential fix that Ford comes out with. Once they get that truck fixed, they will call me. They are checking with Ford every morning for any new fixes that come out.
So, if that is the case, NO WORKING FIX currently.

Took my truck in for an oil change and the latest TSB. Service writer didn't want to do the TSB unless we could recreate all issues. I said ok! Let's go drive onto the highway and floor it in rush hour traffic... That sounds like a good idea! And there isn't a long hill for about 30 kms. To teat the shudder. Luckily the SM came over and said they don't need to road test for a TSB. I was impressed. Finally good service. I have a f350 Super Duty rental while mine is in the shop. What a gas guzzler!!

I got my truck back. I am waiting on the deflector to come in, so only the pcm update was done. I have only driven about 55kms since picking it up. I will know better tomorrow but so far it seems like it is a little thirstier. I took the same route home as usual with no changes in traffic. I am usually at about 11.5l/100kms. Today it was at 12.8 l/100kms. It is really hot today. 36 celcius. 96.8 farenheit. Hope things are better tomorrow.
I had the newest TSB preformed on my Eco last week, the shudder is still present. The deflector is on back order but I seriously dont think it will correct this problem. This is the second repair for this issue, Ford has one more chance to fix this 45,000 truck. I would have had better service purchasing a pair of Levi's that dont fit. I am sick of this issue.

I know they state otherwise in the TSB but it seems they are making a blanket statement. Maybe they don't yet realize that it's possibly 2 different issues.
I just know in my gut that shudder starts with sudden load at too low rpm. I'm only running 1400-1500rpm in 6th and lock up when it starts and the truck will NOT unlock and downshift. That's all it needs to do. It wants to just lug.
But then with the EB, you get the turbos and waste gates seem to start fighting each other and pretty soon you're riding a bucking bronco.
Sometimes just a single jerk though. And sometimes it doesn't happen at all.
I agree this TSB is an albeit lame attempt to deal with falling on its face, not shudder.
