After taking a second read over this document, it occurred to me... Ford is saying they know exactly how to replicate the issue in these trucks, and claim that during the "event" acceleration is still possible, just not at a rate and quick as if it weren't misfiring. I have two problems with this... #1, human instinct while driving a car that starts to spudder/misfire/shake/etc. is to let off the gas in an effort to one, try and hopefully get past or correct the issue and two, to keep from damaging the engine. I don't know anyone who would attempt to request power from a vehicle, have it misfire, and conciously make the decision to keep pressing, or further press the gas pedal in order to maintain or continue acceleration. I can just see it now, Ford sets up these trucks, tells the driver to slowly accelerate to 70MPH then let it come back down to 50MPH, then floor it. Just floor it, the answer we've been giving to this issue from the beginning!

#2, just because the trucks still accelerate under misfire, doesn't mean it's acceptable. Cars are, and have been at a state of such predictability for YEARS now. I never had any question of how fast my 1997 Explorer, 1998 F150, 1999 E150, 1999 Escort, 2001 Mustang, 2003 F350, 2009 Escape, or 2010 Edge would accelerate. But now all the sudden this 2011 truck, with the hype and hoopla of power, torque, and fuel economy, can stumble upon itself and be as unpredictable as a car from 60 years ago? That's a HUGE step in the WRONG direction Ford.

Are you listening Ford? Are your Customer Support lurkers allowed to forward on our reasoning in an effort to bring some sense to whoever is calling the shots on resolving this issue? If you read most of our posts, we don't care that the issue exists, we still love our trucks! We just want to be taken care of, and that's not happening... so we get NHTSA involved in hopes to coax you along to a common sense solution. You've said yourself, this issue is easily replicable, but poses no safety threat. We not only disagree, but I think we can all attest that we feel we've been lied to. This is 2013, and a brand new vehicle, regardless of it's MSRP, should be reliable! Sure, we're humans building machines and there are thousands of anomalies that could happen that would compromise the customer's desired reliability of a vehicle. The difference here, this is no anomaly... Ford, you are telling us that you can slam every one of our trucks in your super test chamber (This bugs me as well as I am a firm believer that you can in no way create a truely accurate real world environment in a box. If you can Ford, then you're in the wrong business and should be fighting global warming...) and repeat the issue. But wait, some customers will never experience this because of where the truck primarily lives, so no need for a mass update... It's not as if your customers travel to other states from time to time, and may even want to use their truck for hauling home something from across the country.

Maybe I'm just over thinking this... but man I feel like this is common sense stuff here. But then, it seems that society quit using that about 20 years ago.

And I almost forgot... Ford has solved this issue now according to this document. Block off the lower half of the intercooler, not the top. Sure, it meets all EPA requirements still, but does it meet advertising? Are our trucks the same power houses we were shown them to be when they were new? I would like to see this documentation! I just don't see it being possible when there was so much resistance and possible voiding of warranty when owners were wanting to put grills or move their license plates in front of the intercoolers air flow path. And where's the documentation showing your test trucks can sit in your eco-dome and run through a tank of fuel in the most ideal condensation forming conditions and not produce enough to cause misfire ever again? Still a lot of question to be answered... This has all just become a slippery slope that I don't want to be on anymore.

I finally had enough of the problems with my ecoboost last mth., and traded it for the 5.0. I loved my truck other than the ecoboost so I went with same color and everything. Traded '11 in on a new '13. I def. love the sound of the 5.0. Heres some pics. of the new one.

I dumped mine, the second one after I lemoned the first, for a Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi. And guess what, I get about 21 on the highway. About what I was getting with the Ecoboost. And it's fantastic. 395hp/390ftlbs. Smooth, power when I want it and rides better. Doesn't tow quite like the EB, but, meh.

I'll never buy another Ford truck after the way I was treated. By the dealer's sale and service departments, Ford customer service all the way to their reps at lemon arbitration. Every one of them lied and tried to pass the buck. Never again.

I don't believe Ford on this issue. When I had this happen (just once for me), it was a warm sunny day with average humidity... probably about 50%. I had gotten into the truck in daytime temp of about 70 degrees and driven about 10 minutes. And there was no "partial power" available. I lost ALL power... my foot still down on the accelerator.

There is no way the complete loss of power had anything to do with moisture.

I'm only thankful it's never happened again... and I've tried to replicate it, but it always acts the way it should... goes like a bat out of heck. The truck has more power than when it was new, for sure.

Please take this seriously ....FORD needs to FIX their known Safety, Materials and Poor Build Quality issues, also low real world measured mpg Not what advertised.
I SOOO Wanted to LOVE my new F150 ECOBOOST, but now Im SOO DISSAPPOINTED with my 2012 F150 SuperCrew ECOBOOST 4X4 XLT build date 06/12, My family and I No longer feel SAFE with Engine loss of power issues experienced several times....studdering and under acceleration extreme shaking and loss of power some when hot and not too humis some in rain. I have had Engine Cut Out Severe Loss power trying to pass on 2 lane Highway several times were extremely Dangerous situations loss power in heavy traffic is DANGEROUS!!.
Ford Dealership Service Dept had truck 2 weeks and I have to pay TAX on Chevy Rental loaner truck also ???? Ford service sais I had codes P0304, p0305, p0306 and perfomred TSB 13-8-1 , they put a new CAC Intercooler in it and reprogrammed ECU , BUT do I risk myself and families safety to TRUST after 2+ years of Ford's Ecoboost known issues, that the Loss of power will not happen again. Also I have had POOR fuel economy consistantly even after 10K (Ford Service informed me 10K milage for breakin) still Not good at 20K miles properly broke in and 44 lbs tire rated cold pressure , 90% empty avg HWY 17.5 mpg with 93 Octane, City 13-14 mpg. Temp below 40 F drops mpg down to 9.5 mpg with good 93 Oct gas and same if Tow anything 1000lbs or 7000lbs same Guzzles gas. Harsh Transmission shifting hard ECU issues and Not Confident will last past 40K and definately would Not trust past 60K drive train warranty. AC poor not good in 100+ F heat... Cheap build quality front grill fell apart 2x, brakes make noise since new, doors, bumpers, sides sheetmetal wobbles and Dents so easily, rear bumper can bend with 1 finger, if you press on it or bump with shoulder. Where are the internal Transmission and Engine parts really made? why need assembled in US sticker if poor parts and engineering for profits quality...
But worst of all how can I risk my Families Safety if Engine cuts out on acceleration. Many others having same issues now NHTSA is investigating and others have pursued multiple class actions lawsuits. I just want to keep my family safe, and wish I could have an F150 Screw 4x4 dependable truck that gets close to advertised mpg and will be reliable long after the stock Manufacturer warranty. Sincerely, sad Ecoboost owner ..... (btw I was a Sr Machinist for many years and we had Fords on our Farm , I WANT AMERICAN MADE to be the BEST !!!! Not a Marketing for Profits over Risk to families Experiment)

I lost faith in Ford Customer Service when my assigned rep refused to return my calls. Then when she would answer the phone, and I knew it was her by her voice, she'd claim to be someone else stating my rep was busy or not available. Then I'd get an email from them saying they'd call me at such and such a time. I'd never get a call. But I'd get a follow up email saying they tried numerous times to call and left voicemails. All of which was B.S. That's how I was treated by Ford Customer Care. I don't even know how they called it "Care" when that's the last thing they do.

Im taking my 2011 Eco SCREW 4x4 in the morning to atttempt to deal with the shuddering issue. Hope all goes better than it seems most have experienced. I already have issues with front windows not going down at times. If they dont fix this issue i think i will be headed to another dealership and not a ford one.
