I really dont want to go the lemon law route, as my truck has only done this once. i only have 2000 miles on the truck, and hope it never happens again. Why is ford having such a hard time figureing this out? it seems like a tune and an aftermarket cac fix the problem for the most part, but tthat voids your warranty. you can either have a nearly worthless warranty from ford and a truck that breaks and ford has no answer for, or you can fix it yourself but void the warranty.. thats unacceptable!

60,000 miles and have never experienced any problem. Never been to the shop until last week in Oklahoma City. Had been driving in moderate rain most of the day and was getting on I-44 light acceleration and it started shaking coughed sputtered. Acted like it was running on 2 cylinders. No codes. Ultra gauge didn't even show a pending code at this time.

Reminded me how a engine used to run when you took it to a car wash and washed off the engine. Hmmmmm

Did this for 5 to 10 seconds I just kept steady pressure on the gas, didn't let up or push any harder. I had been driving city streets, getting on and freeways stop and go. Never did it again the rest of the day.

Has anyone just blocked the air off the IC? What good is cooler air when it has water in it?

He probably scans various threads, but I'll forward the link. Better to just email him at torrie@unleashed.com - he responds pretty quickly to emails.

I am appalled this issue is not fixed yet I am so glad I peddled my 2012 Screw XLT EB almost a year ago for the shuddering/hesitation/missing issue. I think the dozens of my posts are buried back a 1,000 or so posts. Amazing Ford hasn't fixed this and continues to sell these trucks with all the hyper/commercials. Sad really.

I resorted to buying a used 2008 Tundra with the 5.7L with 36K miles and it's been absolutely flawless. Not the truck I wanted but has been problem free and don't have any complaints. I don't think I'll ever buy another Ford product due to my experience with the 2012 Ecoboost. In my opinion Ford Failed big time and continues to do so based on the fact they haven't fixed the problem and continue selling lemons.

Good luck everyone.

So spent Saturday at the dealership....showed them the issue I have been experiencing...service writer said YUP I feel it too....service tech spent 2 hours running diags, etc and couldn't find one misfire or anything....he performed the Neutral Reset and updated PCM to most recent flash....problem still occurs....I am starting to wonder if my issue could be motor mount??? Possible I am feeling a harmonic/vibration since it appears to be RPM related. Thoughts?

I have a 2012 F150 with the ECO. I've had the CAC/intercooler TSB applied. My initial shutter/buck/engine stopped running event was merging on to I-24. I wound up with a check engine light and took it in to the dealer. There were 12 Eco's ahead of mine to have the TSB applied. My dealer is very familiar with the issue. I had not driven my truck in a lot of rain for an extended period until two weeks ago on I-65 through Alabama from Gulf Shores to Nashville. I had the event happen again, this time no check engine light, no lights for that matter.

I called the dealer that day and followed up with a visit to the Sales Manager and Service Manager the following day. They know their is an issue, but they have to wait for Ford to come up with a fix. Its a big deal to them as they are selling the daylights out of the ECO. They advised my to follow the procedures in the owners manual, call FORD and file a formal complaint. Additionally they recommended filling a compliant with the NHTSB.

Within 24 hours FORD customer service for my region (TN) called to talk about the issue. They gathered the facts and see that over the 17,000 miles I've had my truck in 4 times for either the sputter/shudder/go in to safe mode. They gave me the Ford Premium Care Warranty for free to cover and "build confidence" in the product. They say the engineers are working on the issue for a fix. I told them if we cannot come to some type of fix, soon, I want them to purchase the vehicle back.

I came out of an Access Cab 2001 Tundra. It was bullet proof, not one issue in 120,000 miles. One recall for a belt tensioner and that was it. I really like my 2012 F-150, and I shopped it against the 2012 Tundra and bought the Ford. I regret my decision now, and I likely stuck with a truck that i cannot sale.

I think it's torque converter related.

Default 2012 f150 platinum

I had my first encounter several weeks ago. Had been driving on the interstate for several hours with moderate to heavy rain. Took the exit off of the interstate onto the four lane. When I started merging into traffic at 70 mph, I had to quickly accelerate into traffic.. The thing felt like I had run off of the road. It started shaking and run not go. Cars behind me were scattering everywhere to keep from running over me. It took 4-5 tries on the accerator to get it going... No warning lights, no codes. CAC was ordered and went today to have installed.. My F150 was a late Aug 2012 build and the CAC was the same as the earlier 2013 CAC's. When my CAC was removed, the tech poured water out. Will let everyone know how the new CAC works.

'13 ECO, Sticker Build Date 10-30-12, Door Build Date 10-12, CAC# DL34-9L440-AC

Had it stumble/cut out 3 times. At least 2 out of the 3 times the Trac Control light came on, never a check engine light come on. 1st two times road was a bit snotty so I just blew it of, hopefully, to my heavy right foot & road conditions. The 3rd time it did it was on a dry 2 lane in hot humid weather. Went to pass two slow autos and about 1/2 way thru the pass it started cutting out. Of course cars were coming rapidly towards us in the oncoming lane, even tho I initially had plenty of room / time to pass. Gratefully the cars I was passing let me in.

That was enough for me to take it to the dealer. Here is what the dealer's service report wrote up:
"2214 hook up ids ran koeo, koer found sys pass on both test. Did power bal. found no miss fires. Did find it need a cal updated reprogram the pcm with the lates update. Road tested found no problems at this time" (spelling errors dealers, not mine)

Have not had it happen again, but have not driven in rainy weather for any length of time at this point.

She runs great other than that. We replaced a 6.0L Power Stroke (with all it's issues) with this Ecoboost. Hope I didn't shoot myself in the foot again...
