2011+ 55-60mph 5.0 Shuddering and EcoBoost Engine Miss/Loss of Power - Possible Fixes
#2421
Dealer called last night wanted to take the truck home which I woulda been fine with but they left the message with the answering service instead of my cell so I didn't get it.
So they are having problems recreating the issue...but upon the tech driving it around this morning he thought he got it to happen a little bit upon hard acceleration. They have a call into the Ford hotline to see what Ford says...I don't know how its possible on these computer packed trucks but they say they can't find any evidence of misfires.
They were hoping to hear back from Ford after lunch.

I think the converter is slipping and the engine is running fine. That would account for why the 5 liter was having the same sensation and the computers are not seeing a misfire. Bob mac started this thread because he was having the problem with his 5 liter.

The only difference is Bob_Mac did also have misfires reported in Mode 6, so he did have something specifically wrong with his truck. Seperate issue, same symptoms as the Ecoboost misfiring.

Yes, this has been talked about since the beginning. This is happening across all engines and seems transmission/torque converter related. But the Ecoboost misfire is obviously much different, as there are real misfires experienced on the engine on cylinders 4, 5, and 6. I've said from day one. If you took a 5.0L guy who THINKS he has the misfire issue, and put him in an Ecoboost with the shudder/shaking, he would quickly realize its not the same issue.

So Ford is telling the dealer to do things that have already been done to the truck like the CAC, CPU update, etc. Dealer basically doesn't know how to proceed. I told them to give me the damn truck back and I'll switch the plugs out this weekend.

That means, to me, that they know they don't yet have a fix.... And quite frankly, that's pitiful at best
