2011+ 55-60mph 5.0 Shuddering and EcoBoost Engine Miss/Loss of Power - Possible Fixes
#1731
Didn't the very early eco's have the license plate where the 5.0 have them in the center. If I had a fall flat on my face issues I would put the license plate back in the middle.

This thread has stalled... No pun intended.
So the warmer, dryer weather has everyone running fine? That is unless you have the steering knock. It rears its ugly head in the heat but cooler temps reduce that problem.
So, in the heat the trucks run well but get steering knock and in cold weather run poorly but less steering knock. I've never had a vehicle that was affected by climate change so much.

Ok, I've had my truck on several diagnostic machines plus used a OBD tool to monitor while I'm driving, I'm 95% sure that my 50 - 60 mph shudder is not comming from the engine. Signs are really pointing to the transmission / torque converter. Does anyone know if the same tranny / tc are used behind the 6.2, 5.0 and eco?

I noticed the shudder some today on a 140 mile trip in 85 degree weather. Drove about 20 miles on mildly wash-boarded like pavement and felt the knock in the steering column a few times...so now I guess I can look forward to a replacement steering rack at some future point, that is if I don't pawn the truck before. I'm just utterly disgusted with the Eco purchase yet I still see the Eco Ford commercials and can only laugh.

I had the shudder with my EB before the first TSB which was when it was cold out. I got my truck in October so I had no idea what it was like in warm weather and non winter fuel. After the TSB my shudder gradually went away and has since been completely gone. It has been abnormally hot and dry here (NWMO) all summer and my truck will get 20mpg on trips as long as you keep it under 65mph. I'm happy with it right now but just like everyone else, I'm a little concerned what will happen this winter with it.

IMO the warm/hot dry summer weather is giving owners a false impression the latest TSB has solved the problem. I think summer is basically buying Ford another 5 months before they have to address the problem again ...then we start all over with the bitching/complaining.
