Their mechanics have been in contact with Ford and they said that the reason for the shudder is that the engine is running too lean in an effort to keep the MPG's up. The fix is supposed to be a programming issue and is going to be coming out in Mid-March. That is the straighest answer I have heard since last fall when this all started on my truck.
this doesn't sound like your dealer is giving a straight answer.

Anybody with this issue running the "Torque" or similar app for their smartphone? Wondering if a parameter in that app could help diagnose whats going on? I was meaning to get that app and obdII bluetooth adapter anyways, maybe I will try to get it sooner rather than later.

[QUOTE=I have been able to drive every vehicle I've owned at the EPA ratings or at least damn close to it. I can't get this thing within 15-20% of EPA. I was close until this shudder showed up. I was 10% or less over the EPA. I drive about 5000 kms a month, so it adds up![/QUOTE]

This is right at the top of my complaint list. I can drive every other vehicle I or any of my friends own and get at least what's on the window sticker if not better. I have noticed my truck doing the misfire/studder thing since I drove it off the lot so I have no way of knowing if it was better without it or not.

I wasn't aware that there are so many dublicate issues between the 5.0 and ecoboost. I can ad the 5.0 to the complaint but don't want to muddy the waters. It seems that there are multiple issues with both power plants causing similar issues. The issue with the ecoboost can be heard when you put your ear close to the dash during the shudder. It sounds like a very confused waste gate randomly dumping in synch to the shudder. Sounds like somebody randomly letting air out of a tire. This has gone from "maybe they will fix it in a week to maybe a month" and now I'm close to 10k miles and no fix yet. I want to help move this along since it is affecting the drive quality and for some of us who put 2000-3000 miles a month on their vehicles, it is costing alot of extra $$$ at the pump. Thoughts on adding 5.0 to the petition... Should a separate petition include the 5.0 or should I loosen the scope and remove ecoboost from the complaint. I want to help.

I think we need to keep it to the Ecoboost. I hear the changes in boost as well. And with the mention of condensation from the intercooler....

I think there are several shuddering issues, but this one affects both 5.0 and 3.5. The 3.5 wastegate sound could be a symptom of the real problem and not the cause. For example if the problem is the Torque Converter locking/unlocking, that would cause confusion in the turbos as they loaded/unload in sync with the change in load from the driveline. The guys with 5.0's could have the same TC problem but they can only feel the issue and not hear it much since they don't have the turbos or wastegates magnifying things.
I really think some of the "shuddering" isues that Ford and dealers are lumping into the moisture issue are when a truck severely shudders and goes into limp mode when accelerated hard. That issue makes more sense to me regarding moisture causing serious misfires.
