2011 5.0L Transmission Recall Fix or Not...
I just had my truck in for its 100k mile service and they flashed it with the new software fix. Note, I never had the 6th to 1st gear change issue. However now it downshifts hard from 6th to 5th under light throttle. Is anyone else having the same experience? Any thoughts?

I have had this problem for a while now. Haven't had time to take it to the dealer because I need my truck to drive to class and I can't park in my spot without my permit attached to my truck.
Constant hard downshifts only from 6th to 5th. Does it on stock tune and any custom tune I have. If it doesn't fix itself and you take it to the dealer, please let us know what they say!

Wasn't that a problem fixed with a minor TSB long ago? Did they bring it back with this software update?

The previous recall (16S19) provided for ...
... extending the warranty coverage on the transmission molded leadframe, which contains the OSS, under Customer Satisfaction Program 16N02. This increases the transmission molded leadframe warranty coverage to a total of 10 years or 150,000 miles from the warranty start date, whichever occurs first.
lf your vehicle's transmisslon molded leadframe requires replacement due to an OSS failure and your vehicle is within the indicated time/mileage limitations, Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace the transmission molded leadframe free of charge (parts and labor).

I was referring to the hard shifts being discussed in this thread, not the complete loss of control covered by that recall.

Just got the recall done yesterday evening. Never had any transmission issues, but did have a rough upshift from 1 to 2 when the tranny was cold that was pretty annoying. Driving into work this morning it actually seems like my shifts are softer than before. Downshifted from 6 to 5 to pass a semi on the highway and there was a noticeable 'lag' between the actual shift and engagement. It was almost like the shift took slightly longer and had a much smoother engagement. I was expecting harder shifts for a while after the recall, so I'm pretty sure I'm not imagining things. The annoying upshift also seems to be gone, which is a plus. I'm sure it will tighten up with my driving habits in the next few days.

Question for the people that already had the transmission update installed. so, I called my dealer today about this recall and they told me I would have to drop off my truck off for about 2-3 days. Because they would have to test drive it to see if my truck needs the new transmission software upgrade and keep it after the update to make sure it’s working good. Does that sound, about right??? I thought it was a 1 hour update not a 3-day thing.
