2011/2012 55 MPH vibration/shudder issue; information database
#311
2014 Screw FX4
3.5L Eco
Truck shakes like crazy between 70-80 mph. Dealer installed and balanced new tires and driveshaft, but the truck still shakes.
There is no way this should be accepted as normal.

Poor Customer Service
Ok, so the customer service rep assigned to my case has all but disappeared and will not return calls. The dealership seems to think the Goodyear tires on the truck is a factor in the vibration, and they want to swap them for Michelin's, but they need approval from the customer service rep to do so. Anyone have a good contact for a customer rep who actually cares about the product they sell?

There is no fix it is driveline harmonics etc causing the issue. Some of us have changed angles and gone to the raptor mount and lessened the felt vibration but not gotten rid of it. If ya get a new set of free tires good deal but it won't solve the issue likely.

Driveline harmonics?
What exactly are you calling driveline harmonics? And if it were truly a design issue, why wouldn't everyone have the issue? I have a 2011 with the 5.0 and 48,000 miles and I have no shuddering issues?

I have a shudder on mine, its a 2014 RWD EB. It only occurs when I floor it when moving slow, like between 15-20 MPH, then the whole damn truck shivers until about 40 MPH. Have no idea what is doing it, and only when I am already rolling, never from a dead stop, and never when going above 30 MPH. Real head scratcher too, as I can only replicate it every so often, not all the time.

It is not common to every 2011-2014 F150. I met a guy today who has the exact same configuration as me, and his does not have the "shakes".
Since Ford Service has gone "crickets" on my case, I have sought help elsewhere with the issue. It is very sad though, that the Service Managers seem to avoid customers with legit problems.
Having worked for Ford for over 15 years, I still have a few inside contacts. One of them who is in the Service Dept (on a different side) found a TSB calling out the carrier mount. It mentions the possibility that the carrier may have been improperly torqued. Which could cause a slight angle or pitch in the mounting. The fix is to loosen and then re-torque to factory specs.
Has anyone else heard or read about this?
