Default 2010 transfer case

Having some odd noises coming from under my truck. Typically happens under 50 mph when accelerating slowly. Sounds like a rattling. Sound seems to be on passenger side close center console. Truck drives fine and the noise disappears about 50 moh and at highway speeds. My 4wd lit up on the dash one day without me making a y changes and then the light went off. Since then have been hearing the noise. I did some searches of past posts, and someone mentioned IWEs but I did the IWE delete about 5 years ago so don't think that's it.

Just over 220,000 miles. Fluid was done, dont recall time frame though. I purchased the Truck in 2016 with 78,000 miles on it.

Well, most rattling turns out to be a heat shield. Could just be a coincidence for the timing. Have you been testing 4x4 at all?

The heatshield was loose, but that was taken care of and sound persists. Have not tried out the 4WD yet. I dont use it often here in NJ, and honestly cant remember the last time it was even used. Been that long.

Some easy, free tests: Only test when driving straight, unless you've got some snow to slide on. See if shifting into 4x4 changes the noise. Also test 4L to see if it will work at all.

We have some rain today. Noise did not change with 4 hi. 4 Lo will have to try somewhere with no traffic. Dash kept telling me to stay at 3mph or lower and wouldnt engage.

Yes, that is how Low works. Rain isn't enough to allow turning in 4x4. And I wouldn't test in traffic, just on a side street or something.
