My truck came with a factory tow package but not the controller. I added the factory controller and then the dealer had to go into the computer and turn that option on so that the controller would work.

I know this thread is quite old but does anyone know if you can use Forscan to enable this in a 10 like the 15 and newer trucks. I have a friend that want to install this. We will do the work but would like to know if he needs to take it to the dealer or we can use Forscan befoer he buys the controller. It may affect his decision as the dealers here want an arm and a leg to breath on your truck. I got quotes of 135 to 185 just to enable the controller in my 17 thus the the reason I went the Forscan route.

Reading through this thread the consensus is that 2009 F150 uses a different part number - 9L3Z-2C006-A, which is obsolete. Even though it is obsolete, it still shows on the Tasca website. There you can see that this part is compliant with 09 and 10 F150 years.

When searching eBay for 2009 F150 TBC, PN AL3Z-19H332-AA comes up as compliant with 09 and 10 F150s (https://www.ebay.com/itm/09-10-2009-...97.m4902.l9144). I contacted Fairway Ford with my VIN in an attempt to clear the contradictory information and they confirmed that PN AL3Z-19H332-AA works on the 2009 F150, as long as the truck had the trailer tow package and digital readout, which is the case (09 and 10 instrument cluster look the same).

Today I took the truck in to my Ford dealer for service and used the waiting time to seek further clarification. They looked up the TBC PN for my truck and confirmed it was PN 9L3Z-2C006-A (obsolete). Then they looked at this same PN under the 2010 model and there it had a reference for a replacement part - AL3Z-19H332-AA. According to Parts Dept, this replacement part number should also work on my 2009 F150.

I was thinking of purchasing this part and testing it on my 09 F150. Enabling TBC using Forscan seems relatively easy. Does anyone know for sure if PN AL3Z-19H332-AA works on the 2009 F150??

After so many have said the 2009 and the 2010 use different TBC part numbers, I can confirm that this is not the case. Part number AL3Z-19H332-AA works on both 2009 and 2010 (built on or before 11/2/2010). Today I installed this part number on my 2009 F150 Lariat SC 4x4 5.4L. This part was purchased for $184 delivered. I have activated the truck using FORScan and an ELM327 WiFi OBDII Scanner, purchased on eBay for $12. I have verified that pressing trailer brake, displays trailer disconnected message and also the gain can be adjusted.
