2010 STX stereo replacement
i just bought my F150 STX a couple of months ago and i really have tried to get used to the factory stereo...but i can't take it anymore. time for an upgrade.
i already have a pioneer head unit and some kicker 6x8's on the way. i also ordered a Scosche FD1438B dash kit.
my question is concerning the wire harness. these seems to be much confusion on what harness i need. i've been quoted anywhere from $12 to $129 for a harness. anybody know for sure what harness i need?

The question is if you really what to retain sync or not. The more expensive wiring harness is usually the one that retains sync. Just make sure you read the description of the harness.
If you dont need Sync..b/c your going to use your pioneer for everything, then the wiring harness id XSVI-5520-NAV
If you want to retain Sync then you want to go with Metra " FRST"
If you want Sync and want a LCD display to let you know whats going on with Sync then you need Metra "AFSI-01"
To retain steering wheel control you will need in attition to the above..Metra "ASWC"
Oh...and also Google and "searching" is your friend...embrace it!

i searched for hours to find any info. i got on the right path, but only you and a metra tech got me the correct part info.
i got another part number from metra but i would have to run a power wire back to the fuse box if i used the $20 wiring harness he mentioned.
thanks

singtall, I'm having trouble locating detailed information as well. I have the same truck as you, 2010 STX no sync. I am having trouble figuring out if I need that expensive harness. crutchfield.com says I need the harness even though I have Non-sync selected.
I am looking to put in a single din Pioneer AVH-P5200DVD, I'm thinking I'll need the same dash kit you got, but is the harness needed too ?
Installation Details for your 2010 Ford F-150 STX Pickup Super Cab
» Because of the way your vehicle is wired at the factory, we recommend that you purchase a connection adapter to eliminate the need for extensive rewiring when you install your new stereo.
PAC C2R-FRD1 $129.99 » To install this product, youll have to modify your vehicle. » You will need to fabricate a mounting kit in order to install your new receiver. » If the factory radio is replaced, the Microsoft SYNC system will be lost.
