If your speaker is cutting out sometimes the problem can be on the speaker wire anywhere from the head unit....all the way to the actual speaker. It could have been pinched during the making of your truck on the assembly line. It could be a loose pin in the harness near the radio. These are the tougher issues to find.....and sometimes its easier to jsut replace as much of the line as possible...

I do agree, but if you got your stereo installed at a reputable shop then more than likely they will fix your problem. I had a stereo installed and had problems with a connection, I took it to the shop and they figured it out and fixed it free of charge.

We'll I got in my truck today and it was acting up again. I decided to turn up the volume louder and it made it go back to normal. After I turned the volume down it went back to one speaker. Is this still the harness?

Thats a tough call...its sounds like it COULD be the head unit also...but you said that you replaced the head unit? Was this the same headuint in your old system? i know some old home recievers volume control contacts can get dirty, and can cut one channel off or have it flicker untill you crank the volume ****. sounds like the install shop should be diagnosing this for you though...but i know you want to have a better idea of the issue for yourself too

Ok, since this is a new head unit and it did it with the head unit before..and is still doing it...you can rule out the actual head unit. sounds like its still in the wiring. so it seems with a higher voltage through the speaker wire (aka= more volume) the problem is not there. But when you turn the volume down you get the noise? It is possible that the noise is still there even when the volume goes up, but the noise volume stays the same making it seem slike you dont have it. whats the noise sound like? is it like a morris code electronic sound? In your original post it states the speaker "cut out" is it actually not producing any sound when it cuts out..or is there a noise in the background of the music?

that doesnt sound like a speaker wire issue...sounds more hardware to me. almost like an OEM amp is bad. when its a wire issue, you will hear it either cut out completely, or make a static sound if its accidently being grounded, but not just play quieter. Your installer really needs to look at this.
