2010 STX Ambient temperature install

UPDATE
So I decided to take another chance on a unit off e-bay. Installed it tonite and exact same issue!!!! Temp reading stuck at 50 deg
The date code on the unit just purchased is 7/09, my unit is dated 5/10. My hunch is that the change was made sometime between this period??
Also noticed the sw# which I'm going to assume is the software version differs 14.1.0 vs 15.1.0.
Not sure but thinking the unit purchased was from a 2009, not sure what dates were used on the 10's?
To the OP do you remember what dates were on your units when installed.
At this point I'm done trying and will most likely just resell the units.

I've been still thinking about this and wondering if the temperature sensor I'm using is incorrect??
I have several Ford Thermistor sensors in my basement and all read around 40K Ohms at 65 Deg. F.
Before I go out and buy one was wondering if someone can measure the resistance on theirs to confirm, anything 2010 and before.
Thanx

Stupid Question
First off this is my first post and I am new to the site!
This write up was perfect I have a few questions.
I have an 09 F150 STX I purchased the HVAC controls with the rear defroster and I also purchased the temp sensor.
They HVAC controls arrived before the sensor so I installed them first, after installing the OUTSIDE temp showed up and read 50 degrees as the default.
I then proceeded to test to make sure everything was working, I head the AC click on and all the controls worked fine but the AC never got cold, and well all know how cold ford AC blows.
so I switched it back out for my old HVAC controls and the AC was ice cold again.
So my question is does the sensor control the AC too? does the truck think its 50 deggress outside and not want to cool the truck anymore?
Just wondering if anyone came across this. I am going to install the sensor this weekend and try again just wanted some insite

Did you get the right sensor for the grill? Did you try driving with it hooked up like that. It takes a few miles for the sensor to read accurate.

I did drive around thinking maybe my AC will get colder but that never happened, as soon as I put my other controls in the AC was cold again.
I know I bought the right HVAC controller everything works as noted just no AC so i am going to put the sensor in when it comes in the mail and see if that effects it.
if it doesn't i am assuming it is a faulty HVAC control and i will have to wait for one to surface on EBAY again for cheap.
