They don't fit my "theme" and serve no real purpose. My truck is Sterling gray and black. Except the bull bar and side steps which are chrome. And the wheels which are polished.

I got the heated mirrors from another member here so I'm going to install them and then swap out the reflectors. I just didn't know how difficult it would be to pop them out. Looks easy enough though. Not really thinking I want to plastidip them when I have ready-made replacements handy. I smoke plastidipped my PIAA covers (used to be white) and they look pretty cool with smoke tint to them now.

Now I just need to find a use for the black, clear, and silver metallizer plastidip I bought.

They are very easy to pop out. And I don't think they are that much $$. On my phone otherwise I could find out for you

An old thread, but wanted to bring it to the top again to see if I'm missing something here.

I recently bought a used climate control listed on here, but mine still doesn't work!!!

It does display, but sits at 50 Deg.F all the time, also the A/C no longer works, does when I re-install the original unit though!!

Is there anything that needs to be done when putting this in, I did a battery pull after I installed made no difference. I'm using a sensor from a Lincoln I had but resistance values appear to be in line with current temperature. I also shorted the wires together to see if reading would change and it did not?

Thanx

I had literally the exact same problem when putting a different unit with rear defrost on. The issue was that the unit itself was from a 2011 and my truck is an '09. So now I'm stuck with unheated mirrors and a useless but perfect shape 2011 f-150 climate control unit.

You also need the sensor under the hood from an f150. Post a pic of the units side by side.

I can post pics of the units, but they are identical to yours, in fact my truck is identical to yours.

I used a thermistor and wondering now if it uses a different type sensor? Does anybody know what type sensor is used?

I hate to spend $40 only to find out it still doesn't work?

Thanx

I got my sensor out of a totaled f150. So I'm not sure what exact kind it is.

Still post pics of the units, front and back. Do you know what year your new one came out of?

I think they made some changes on these in 2011 so that they will not work on 2009/2010, the climate control unit I bought is also a 2011.

I did swap my temp. sensor from my Mustang and it still didn't work, looks like Ford uses thermistors for these so I'm confident the sensor I'm using is correct.

Here are some pix of what I used:

I did the temp display install on my 09 STX after reading Mbullock's write up. Bought the sensor from tasca and bought the a/c control module off ebay. My original was just like the first pic of JohnBoys and the ebay one had the heated mirror button. Works perfect. You might need the exact model year temp control for it to work right. I bought an OEM '10 cd player off ebay for my '09 STX because I wanted one with a Sirius radio and everything worked perfect (radio, Cd player, Sirius)except the Aux button. Found an '09 6 disc oem player with Sirius on ebay and bam the Aux button works. Ford doesn't want anything to be too easy!

UPDATE

So I decided to take another chance on a unit off e-bay. Installed it tonite and exact same issue!!!! Temp reading stuck at 50 deg

The date code on the unit just purchased is 7/09, my unit is dated 5/10. My hunch is that the change was made sometime between this period??

Also noticed the sw# which I'm going to assume is the software version differs 14.1.0 vs 15.1.0.

Not sure but thinking the unit purchased was from a 2009, not sure what dates were used on the 10's?

To the OP do you remember what dates were on your units when installed.

At this point I'm done trying and will most likely just resell the units.
