Instead of starting a new thread I thought I would tag onto this one. The other night I noticed I have the same issue with my newly acquired used 2010. No steering wheel control lights, no gear shifter lights, and no puddle lights. Didn't even know I had puddle lights until I looked at this thread, lol.

I have tried the above mentioned procedures. Fuse #10 was blown so I replaced it. Checked the Sync fuse, #13 and it was good. Performed what was mentioned above, disconnecting the battery. That did not help either. Still no lights. Also checked fuse #80 under the hood, which says steering wheel control illumination and it appears to be ok too.

I am at a loss. Any other things to try or look at? I also pulled the bulb on the shifter and it doesn't appear to be burnt out. All other dash lights seem to be light as normal.

Thanks in advance for your help. This forum has been great for finding what ever I have needed

I'm having the exact same issues. I checked fuse #80 as recommended, and it was fine. Going to check the sync fuse and the others reported in this thread and will report back.

I've had issues with Sync stopping to work in the past, and leaving the sync fuse out for 15 min with the battery off did the trick. I don't know how this is related, but I will check.

Also at the same time I noticed that my driver auto window is not working any more. The window still rolls down but the auto down feature isn't working. I don't know how this could be related, but still any ideas?

Post back if you are successful. Still haven't figured this out and would love to have my steering wheel control lights and puddle lights on my mirrors work. I just haven't broken down yet to pay the dealer to diagnose.

So I checked, and fuse #10 on the inside panel was blown. It was a 15amp fuse and I replaced it. This was the spot for the puddle lamps and backup lights.

I tried the car again, still no auto window (not sure if related anyway), but I couldn't tell that the steering wheel lights were on. It is daylight and hard to tell so I'll check again at night. But it didn't look like it made a difference from what i can tell during the day.

Checked again at night. No luck. Even after replacing that fuse, still no lights on the wheel.

I had the same issue. Blown fuse #10. Replaced it and still didn't work. Came here and tried the pull the sync fuse and disconnect the battery and no luck either. I of course didn't notice the lights not working on the test drive because it was day light. My shifter on the floor lights are out also and I checked the bulb and it is good, so I think they are all related. Then found out I had puddle lights in the mirrors and those didn't work either.

I pulled my #10 again last night and it is still good. Heck, I checked almost every fuse and they look fine. I do recall seeing something on google somewhere that if a code is set somewhere in the computer that only Ford can read that and reset it??? I just wanted to try every thing I could before I paid them. It is those little features that are nice.

Best of luck!

Florida/S. Georgia with lows in the mid to high teens) and yesterday morning I had to jump start my truck at 5 A.M. as I was leaving the house to go duck hunting and the battery was dead. In my half asleep and freezing my *** off stupor I decided it was a good idea to just grab the battery out of my boat and jump it off of that. Of course the battery had no red or black coloring on the pos/neg terminals and I apparently thought I had it right when I hooked the cables up. Needless to say there were some sparks and a little smoke. As soon as I realized what I had done I disconnected the cables and reconnected them the correct way, jumping the truck successfully and going on my way. As I'm almost to the lake I realize the buttons on my steering wheel (cruise, audio controls, etc) are not lit up, nor is the back light for the gear shifter in the console).

When I got home I checked fuse #80 which according to the manual coordinates to the steering wheel lights. Fuse was fine...

Just looking for some guidance as to what to check next. Im thinking the incorrect orientation of the cables shorted something out but I just don't know what...is there some kind of relay or separate fuse that controls the lighting of the steering wheel and shifter?

Thanks!
