It turns out there is a TSB out on this problem...

"TSB 12-11-4 Front Door Speakers - Intermittent Operation - Dearborn Truck Plant - Built On or Before 12/1/2011"

I brought my truck in to my dealer today and they replaced the driver side harness per the TSB. Speaker works great now!

Part # for harness is 9L3Z-14631-DA

Figures... .

My 08 LF speaker did it for the entire 4 years I had the thing. Had it to the dealer twice for the issue and they never solved it. Useless dealer anyway...

I fixed it by buying a 2012..

I had the same problem with both front door speakers and have since upgraded all four front and rear. I didn't use the factory plug on the new speakers, so far everything has been ok hopefully it was the plug that was the problem

Unless it falls into this category...

"Some 2010-2012 F-150 vehicles built at the Dearborn Truck Plant and built on or before 12/1/2011 may exhibit an intermittent operation of the driver and/or passenger front door speaker(s)."

Wiring harness is the solution. I had the SIRIUS radio replaced, driver-side speaker replaced twice, finally to determine it was the wiring harness causing the issue. They replaced both, and so far seems to be working great.

Hey guys, I just had the wire harness replaced but it still does the same exact thing. Do you think it is possibly the radio, because I have aftermarket speakers and it does the same exact thing that it done before they replaced the harness. Thanks guys

Default my solution

I had the same problem (drivers door speaker) I searched (yes I actually did) and found out about the wiring harness deal. I tugged and massaged the wires while the speaker was messing up and could not get any change. So I felt it was the speaker, but since its a basically a new truck I had the same warranty concerns. I didnt want to go through the drag of getting Ford to do the work and be without my truck.

So, I bought some OE speakers from a member and replaced it with a stock speaker. It fixed it.

My thought was that if it didnt fix it I would be able to take it to Ford in good concience and not have to tell them about the speaker change if I didnt think I wanted to

I had the same problem in my 2011 F-150. The front left speaker kept fading in and out after I replaced the stock speakers with some aftermarket infinitys. I unplugged the wiring harness to the speaker and water poured out. I figured corrosion was the cause so I spliced the wires, got rid of the harness and used some waterproof wire ties and electrical tape to reattach the speaker. Works like a charm now!

Thanks for the replies guys, mine has done here in the last few days which don't make since to me because its been raining/snowing. I guess I'll just keep watching it and see what it does. I thought it could be the radio since it does it when I had stock speakers and then aftermarket speakers.
