Yeah, those might help, but the fact that aluminum doesn't rust will factor in also.

I'm curious as to where the first signs of corrosion will appear on the newer models.

Aluminum oxidizes especially when salt is added into the mix should be neat to see after a few years goes by with these trucks.

Aluminum also corrodes when it comes into contact with other metals.
Lets see how well Ford did in making sure this doesn't happen.

Have the same issue with my 2010. By the time the rust was through and I got it to the dealer to have it checked I was 11 days past my 5yr corrosion warranty. The Ford required "tape test" even removed pieces of my paint from the truck and Ford Customer Support pushed it to my regional CSM who basically said there was nothing they could do because it was past the warranty period. She even told me a flat our lie by saying they could work with the dealer for out of pocket repairs and getting them reduced. Got a estimate and then she tells me that is the best they can do on price. Hopefully you have better luck but my experience was horrible. I spent months looking for the exact truck I wanted and now Im looking to trade it for something not a Ford because of this rust issue.

I've got a 2009 FX4 with 78000 miles, and same issue. Just called out to my dealer and since it's over 5 years old they won't do a thing about it. This drives me crazy, my truck is gorgeous, not a scratch or dent or flaw anywhere in the body and now I have rust on both sides coming from inside the truck...

Chad is there anything Ford can do to help me out? A truck this young shouldn't have problems like this, especially since its been undercoated numerous times and garage kept it's whole life.

I feel your pain! My truck is the same way and Ford is going to be no help. Trust me I've went through the Ford folks that post on the forum and they elevated it to my regional rep who basically said you were past the corrosion period by a few days so we won't cover it. She then said they would work with me to get a reduced rate to fix which turned out to be a complete lie and from what I'm getting she was the last stop for help and the folks that post on the forum cannot do anything beyond referring to your regional CSM. Ford even made mine look worse by pulling off a large chunk of paint doing their "tape test" to confirm that it was rust through then turned around and denied the warranty claim.

I have the exact same truck/colour/problem.
I live in South western Ontario and bought the truck off an old man who towed a trailer to flordia every year and back...thats all he used it for...
bought it with just as bad bubbles as you and it hasnt seen a canadian winter YET!. only had 70,000kms on it.

I brought it to a body shop and they cut out the cab corners and rocker panel the entire length of the cab. replaced it with an expoy type material replacment rocker and cab corner then while he was at it i had him seal all the interior of the doors and wheel wells too. when he was finished he even through in some rocker guard PTM along the door/rocker and cab corner.
the new cab corner has a drain hole so the water wont sit inside...plus you can now oil spray inside total out the door was 1500 cash....id look into it.
my guy guaranteed it wont rust. Id take pics but im out of town for work until end june. VERY VERY happy with how it looks now!

stop that cancer man!
