Yeah, you may actually have perforation there. Warranty could still work

Try as they may, rust has not been resolved, and never will be. While the e coat system is a good system, and it does work, vehicle manufacturers just can not prevent normal road wear and tear. Like road debris kicking up chipping your paint, then moisture getting in there and causing rust, it happens. Up here where I live, in Wisconsin/Minnesota area, the rock salt is large enough to chip your paint.

You can always mention this to the dealership the next time you're in for service, Nalb1221. They'll check it out and get it documented in our system.

Well I took the truck into the dealership last night and they took pictures and sent them off to Ford. Guess I have to sit and wait now.

Hi Crystal,

Is there a contact at Ford Canada I can contact to see if Ford will address this issue? I have a feeling that my local Ford dealer will not be any help to me, and I would like to take it to Ford myself.

Just an update on this thread. We had a tough winter here and the road salt helped me out and made the rust worse to the point were I could push my key right through it. At that point it was perforation and Ford has agreed to pay for the repairs to both sides of the truck. Guess I made it just in time, my in service date was June 2010, and it was approved May 2015, it was a 5 year warranty

Sometimes I wish I waited to buy the 2015 aluminum model. My 02 SuperCrew rusted out in the rockers and bottom of tailgate and now my 2013 SuperCrew is already showing signs of rust bubbles on the lower edge of the tailgate. Very disappointing to see that since I wax that seam just about every month and have sprayed Fluid Film in there as well. Its bad enough having rock salt chips on my PTM bumpers and now this.
