Default 2010 fx4 with blower motor issues

hello all,

I'm having a problem with my blower motor. well the problem is that its not working on any setting. I'm a DIY guy as long as I have instructions... lol. took it to the stealership and they confirmed that the blower motor was shot for the low low cost of $90.00. then was told that the motor is $130.00. plus the install of said motor for $200.00. any advice would be greatly appreciated. this one has dual zone temp control if that makes any difference. thanks again.

How handy are you? Swapping out the blower motor is a very simple job and can be done by anyone with minimal mechanical skills.

I actually pulled mine out of my 2011 f150 this past weekend to inspect a noise it was making. To remove only required removing 3 screws and unplugging the electrical connection. Blower is located under the passenger side foot well.

By the way you talk Deputy62, I am sure you narrowed it down to the blower motor. And through experience, dealerships will always try and screw you for more money. But just as a suggestion have you considered it being the resonator controlling the blower? I hate repairing things that don't need fixed.

I know they go long before the motor, I have even replaced mine in my 2012.

I Have been having trouble with mine for a , I am trying to narrow it down farther, long story short. When I am driving the blower is going. Then when I come to idle, it seams to get extra power and blowing harder on the same setting. It is very noticeable. you can hear it as well as feel it.

I think you mean "resistor". I agree with you that the problem in most cases are indeed the resistor and not the blower itself.

my 2012 is annoying me.

it makes a clicking sound at medium speed (sounds like a bearing is gone) and now it cycles through all the settings before going to the one selected on the dash. I know the motor needs replacing but the cycling is confusing me.

I'd change it but its winter and no heated garage.

Mine would do nothing. Ordered blower fan and replaced today seems to be working as new. The old fan just would attempt to spin but all I got was a flat thunking noise under the dash. Replaced and working fine now.

Just had this exact problem. Dealer stated it is pretty common.
