2010 f150 No brake lights and stuck in park
Hi all,
I have a 2010 f150 Lariat, w/crew cab. She has 75k miles.
The truck is currently in my driveway stuck in park. I searched Google and these forums and everything I have read refers to the fuse for the brake lights and / or the brake light switch.
My fuse (#6) is fine and I just replaced the brake light switch with an OEM from the dealer.
Neither of those worked.
Turn signals, windshield wipers and power windows all work.
I need other things to check / try or some info on getting her out of park so I can get her to the dealer.
As luck would have it, the truck is blocking my other car so I need to get it moved ASAP.
Thank you!
Mikey

Unfortunately, nothing in the Moody Blue thread worked. I can rule out fuses 6, 10 and 42. I went beyond visible inspection and replaced with known good fuses.
I can also rule out loose wires from the brake light switch.

Thanks H-60 Electrician. I know why I'm stuck in park, the brake lights (all 3) don't work. Now I have to figure out why.
Until then, any advice on how to access the interlock switch for a console shifter would be greatly appreciated!

Its in console by the shifter somewhere.

Things You'll Need
Screwdriver
Solvent cleaner (like alcohol)
Instructions
-
- 1Start the engine. Press firmly on the brake while wiggling the shifter from side to side.
- 2Remove the console surrounding the shifter. It is usually very easy although you may need to use the screwdriver to lift an edge or remove a clip.

- 3Look inside the shifter mechanism for any sticky substance. Often when drinks are spilled on the console they seep down into the shifter mechanism and make the interlock solenoid sticky, meaning that it sticks closed when you press the brake and the car won't come out of park.
- 4Remove any sticky substance with the alcohol. Start the engine, press the brake and try to move the shifter out of park. If it still does not move then there may be another issue with the interlock.
- 5Examine the shifter for a release button that will allow you to move the vehicle out of park so it can be taken to a repair shop. It is usually hidden under a small flap or cover that will have to be lifted with a small screwdriver
- 1Start the engine. Press firmly on the brake while wiggling the shifter from side to side.

Based on everything I have read, the next logical replacement is the shift interlock solenoid.
Best reference I've found for removing the center console is the first 20 seconds of this video:

I'll post back Monday.

Use a test light and probe the wires at the brake light switch when depressing the pedal, it should light on both wires when it it is depressed, and no light on one wire when the pedal is at rest.

That looks like a job, but if your wiring is good from the brake light switch to the lights, no emergency brake on, fuses all good, and your pedal actually makes that switch when u push it. I can see the solenoid switch causing the shift problem, I just cant find anything saying the solenoid switch affects the brake light operation.
