Default Are the stock sony tweeters plug and play when upgrading?

I plan on getting a nicer set once I put a full system in the car. So I didnt want to modify the pillar twice.
If I purchased a pair of sony tweets for a non sony equipped truck. Would they just plug in and work?
I figured someone has to have a pair lying around that they would let go for cheap.

Do you mean purchase the Ford tweeters that come in the Sony-equipped truck? I don't think you can PnP. There are 2 versions of wiring for trucks with the pillar tweeters. If you have the base audio, you definitely won't have the Sony wiring, and it wouldn't help without a lot of modification, anyway. The middle version simply splits the front speaker wire to go to the pillar and the door. I don't know if that splice would be laying there in your truck, it doesn't look like it from diagrams. Should be able to see it if it is in there. Passenger side easiest to look at.

Different point, I'm not sure if they are all the same speaker or not. Tasca only lists 2 tweeters, left and right, so maybe they manage to use the same ones in both mid and Sony systems despite different amplification. Anyway, they are shown as only $32 each, so IMO that qualifies as cheap. Wiring shouldn't be too hard, it's just a simple splice once you get the right wire. I replaced my tweeters with aftermarket, but I threw the originals in the trash as soon as I removed them.

If you are putting a "full system" in there, what does that mean? And modding the pillars, are you going to make holes, or get some other pillar cover with holes? It seems to me that putting a full system in would mean modifications to wiring, etc already. So, adding pillar speakers would be a pretty minor wiring mod amongst the other work.

Perfect, you answered my question.
guess I cant PNP.
By full system I meant amp and speakers.
i just didnt want to modify it for a temporary set incase it messed it up for whatever set I do eventually decide to go with.

Ill just hold off till I do actually upgrade to do the tweeters.

I'd recommend separate channels if you are doing full amp replacement anyway. Just run dedicated channels to the tweeter locations. And aftermarket matching tweeters to whatever you buy, the stock speakers are trash. Components would be an option, but might actually cost more for comparable speakers.
