Default 2010 or Eccoboost?

Well I want to pull the trigger on an XLT 5.4 but was wondering if I should wait till 2011. I keep on hearing about this eccoboost and the increase in full economy.

I spoke with my dealer about it and he stated "it won't be here till 2013, and it's going to cost you an additional 2-3 grand." Well everything I have read says the eccoboost will be hear in 2011 for the F150. So what do you guys think? I mean the eccoboost will probably be a hot buy when it comes out, and I doubt they will have any rebates. Is this new technology to risky yet? Then again I plan to have this truck for the long haul so maybe it will be worth it for the fuel savings. I dont plan to tow or haul much with the truck.

Suggestions from the truck experts???

I remember when Dodge came out with the Hemi in the Ram. Dealers were saying its going to be 4grand option. Right. I am sure it was just to sell what they had on the lot right then. My friend bought and regretted it 6months later when he got passed by a Hemi.
Most new techs have problems/bugs not unlike the 6sp auto in 09. That said (I have had many issues) there is warranty for a reason. Even with all the problems with mine, they have all been fixed and has been perfect the last 10000kms. I find the 09 5.4 very efficient (compared to my 03 5.4) and am very happy. I can squeeze 19mpg out of it without to much trouble...if I drive nice...

I can afford to wait, but are they going to do something stupid like only put it in the 2011 Platinum? Wish they would release this thing already...or I might just pull the trigger on the 2010 and say heck with it.

I would just get a truck now. I say that because it will take 1-2 years after they put them in the f150's before they will be all ironed out. Also if I am not mistaken it is a 6 cylinder (that is what the engineers were saying they were working on for our trucks). I am not sure I want that.

In the end there is no replacement for displacement. If you want a hotrod fix up the 5.4.

Plus a V6 just does not sound the same.

True it won't sound the same, but the extra gas mileage was my main reason for waiting.

If you want gas savings get a car. If you want to pull/haul stuff then get the 2010. If later you decide that the ecoboost is for you then in 3-5 years when it has withstood the test of time get it.

You could also do this
