Thumbs down 2010 - Brake Master Cylinder leaks into brake booster

Today my brake peddle was soft and the BRAKE low pressure and low level indicators were on. The reservoir was below the low mark, so I put a bottle of brake fluid in and was able to get the peddle hard (brakes working). There was NO fluid on the ground what soever....

The dealership just informed me that the Master Cylinder is leaking into the Brake booster, and that's were all the fluid is.... This is not what I'd expect from a 2010 F150 with only 36,000 miles! I was also informed that the item is past warranty, I will be resonsible for the $880 bill to install a new master cylinder and brake booster, flush lines and clean the fluid... Oh, and the brake booster isn't available for 3 days!!!!

I went with FORD, since they were financially responsible and didn't take any government money as a bail-out.... Second guessing my decision now!

This exact same thing happened to me yesterday. 2013 F150 with barely over 60,000 miles on it. $1050 bill from the dealership. She'll be back up and running tomorrow.

if you have a 2013 Ecoboost, that should have been covered by the recall!

Thanks for the heads-up BCMIF150. Unfortunately I'm at work and don't have my VIN memorized, so I can't check for my exact truck.

Here is the recall announcement article. I can't seem to find the actual recall right now, but you can go to the Ford and NHTSA website and enter your VIN to check.

I checked my VIN...my truck is not part of the recall, unfortunately. If you ask me, it sounds like Ford forgot to add a few trucks to the recall. It's not a coincidence that my truck is within the same years of the recall, and had the same exact part failure. Oh well!

Keep all of your paperwork and file a complaints with NHTSA. IF they expand the recall, you can get your $$s back.
