Anyone else getting a cold start knock. Very first seconds after starting I'm getting some knocking. Doesn't sound heavy like the bottom end almost like lifter noise. Heard it before but not for sometime now. Just had my oil changed and it started again. Any ideas? Injectors or the pump or maybe the timing chain

i had a camshaft bearing go out at 25k miles. thanks to royal purple. i too had a bad knock

It just turned 32000 and it sounds like **** when I first start it after sitting all night. Other than that it doesn't any other time I start it and it runs fine

could be failing chain tensioners and you are getting some chain slap

Mine does this too but after listening to an early (04+) 5.4 3V, mine sounds quiet

Thought it was the cheap oil filter my shop put on because it sounds like a dry start. Replaced it with a napa gold with anti-drain back but still did it tonight. So I guess it's off to the shop

Don't give the dealership any ammo to deny you're warranty claim.

I'm not knocking the Napa oil filter, but they might.

Put a Motorcraft on before you take it in.
