I like my 4.6 3v, love my truck altogether. Moving to 4.10 gears and an MPT Tune, really improved performance. The two most popular tuners I see are MPT and 5 star. I have a Corsa exhaust but the stock intake and exhaust are already pretty well flowing.

I had full exhaust from headers back, custom tunes, air filter, shift kit

Nothing made it as fast as the stock trucks with the bigger motors, just a better throttle response.

I had a 2002 Supercrew with the 4.6. It was NOT fast and I never felt it was worth the money to even try. The truck ran great and was comfortable though. The only problems I ever had were the coil packs.

Let's be honest, most of our trucks are not fast!!
Some are quick, a lot are respectable, most are avg, the rest are just slow! But then again that's not why we bought trucks.

so many bad comparisons. first there were two 4.6 engines for 09-10. one was the 2v with a 4 speed auto and the other a 3v with a 6 speed.

the 3v is right around 290hp and that 6 speed auto makes a big difference. its in a completely different class than the old 2v trucks some of these guys are referencing.

those people referencing older trucks with the 4.6 are talking about the 2v as the 3v was not available.

You're correct, my apologies. I just re-read the beginning of the thread and caught it. Good luck with mods OP!

Intake / Exhaust / Tune
The intake/exhaust will make it feel faster because of the great sound --- the tuner will really help in all aspects (power, responsiveness, shift points and firmness)

As mentioned, the ones comparing older 4.6 2v to the 3v is comparing apples to oranges.

3v has 292hp and something like 310 trq with the 6 spd. This was in the mustang if I recall correctly. The 3v was only used a couple years then replaced by the NA V6.

As I said, mine does really well. I can tow 7000lbs without issue and it's quick enough to chirp tires and throw me back in my seat through 1-2.
