2010 4.6L 2v Volant cold air induction
I ordered a Cold Air Intake for my 2010 Ford F-150 and it did not fit. The part number of the item I ordered was 19146. My F150 is powered by the two valve version of the 4.6L. I would like to share what I learned regarding your CAI #19146 in regards to the 09/10 4.6 2v F150 to help future customers avoid what I encountered.
I started the installation by removing the original components and comparing them to the volant pieces. I noticed that the air box was physically bigger and the air tube was shorter and has a larger angle than the stock. I assumed that the larger air box would compensate for the shorter air tube.
The first part that I installed was the supplied radiator coolant reservoir. It was a perfect fit using the supplied hardware. Next, I removed the MAF from the OEM air box tube and installed it onto the Volant air box tube, another perfect fit. I then installed the air box in the truck. Perfect fit. That is when I ran into a problem. When I went to install the air tube; the air tube was too short. I also noticed that the angle was too great.
What I found is that the air box and reservoir that are included in CAI # 19146 works perfectly with the 2010 Ford F150 4.6l 2v engine. The air tube on the other hand is will not work and the air filter cannot be properly adjusted to fit the air box.
I also encountered a problem fitting the air filter to the air box. The filter has an opening of approximately 7.5 inches by 5.25 inches. The air box has an area of approximately 6.75inches by 4.75 inches. The difference in size is so much that when the clamp is tightened the folds the end of the filter in and the filter pops of the clamp before it can be tightened properly.
I ordered the CAI from Jegs. They pointed out that your web site shows that you also list CAI # 19746 as an alternate part for the 2009/10 F150 4.6l. I later went to the Volant website and looked at the diagrams and pictures for the CAI #19746 and I noticed that that system is also used on the older models. The air box is 100% different on the 2009/10 from the older body style. The older body style’s air box and coolant reservoir are separate pieces and the 2009/10 uses a single piece air box/coolant reservoir. The other difference is that the older truck uses a different MAF.
Oh yea, before I forget. The guys and gals at Jeg's were great handling my return.

same problem here. I spoke with volant about it. I didn't have the air filter problem you did. But the bracket that mounts the overflow tank and airbox didn't line up. So my cai is on bolted through the bottom rubber pieces and I am using the original air duct.
after speaking with volant they said it was because of the offset throttle body on the 2v. So I recon the built this cai for the 3v only.
plus the hose for the crankcase is on wrong side. I'm making it work until they come out with correct air duct. And will make my own bracket to bolt overflow tank with airbox.

Yes it is ingot silver.
I included pics of the installed intake.
