To see a good video on removing the radio - go to the Coastal Tech website for the lock pick. They have a great short video showing how to remove everything to get behind the radio.

I did this very thing, last year, couple of scratched knuckles and 15 minutes and it was working good as new. lts amazing at the quantity of failures on this, I knew something was up with these things when dealer had a handfull in stock, same actuator on a bunch of models.

In the early morning when trying to run heat, my drivers side will blow cold outdoor temp air, while the passenger side temp will adjust with the temp control hot/cold. When running the AC in the hot afternoon, the driver's will will blow cold AC and the passenger side responds normally. Does this sound like the drivers side actuator is out?

JKOL - Yes. Same thing is happening to me. About one month ago, I had the opposite problem. Driver side worked with the controls but Pass. was stuck on cold all the time. Now Driver side is stuck on hot. I will put up with it as long as I can before attempting to remove the dash to repair.

Default 2009 f150 blend door actuator

Own a 2009 f150 with dual climate. In 2012 the blend door actuator failed. It was the one behind the radio with the hard to get at screw. Forward to now. Everything worked great for drivers side. Passenger side and rear seat vents only had cold air. Even with the passenger side control on or off I’d didn’t matter. Cold only. So I bought the actuator and replaced it yesterday. Reset the way it’s suppose to ( fuse 15 ect ). Now... drivers side works perfect as before but the passenger side is blowing boiling hot air only. The rear back seat vents are working are now working as they should when I change the temp. So by changing it yesterday it fixed the back vents but changed passenger side front to hot only. The clunking sound I had before is gone too so I know the old actuator was defective. But what could be causing hot only on the passenger side? It’s so hot, even with vents clogged, it’s giving me a headache.
