2009 F150 Blender Door Motor
I've noticed that I either have Hot or Cold Air coming from my vents. There is no blending. I've found the spot on my **** where the change occurs but again, either hot or cold. I assume from posts I've seen it's probably the blend door motor. It is the manual style and my question is does the dash have to come out to change it and if not where it is.
Thanks

Its most likely the blend door actuator and it is indeed behind the radio on passenger side, if you have the center console that will have to come out but if you have a bench then its somewhat faster.
see this vid, he ripped his whole dash out to get to it but I'm not sure if its required:

So I went out and pulled the radio out. There is at least 1 screw behind this huge steel bar that goes the length of the dash. It appears the dash will have to come out or at least be tilted back to get to it. Any ideas????

you may still want to have this diagnosed by someone with an OE level access tool to see if there is a code stored in the climate control module, there is also a LH blend door actuator for the drivers side too if you have dual zone climate, so its good to check first before tearing into it.

I have a 2010 Platinum so it has the dual zone controls. I just changed this over the weekend. On my truck, the passenger side would only blow cold air no matter what was set. The driver side was working correctly. Therefore, I changed the one behind the radio like you are trying to do. I know exactly what screw you are talking about. I was able to get a small box end wrench on the screw. I put my hand thru the opening behind the airbag. Of course I could only turn the screw about 1/4 turn at best. But what can you do. You have to use your other hand to try to guide the box end back on the screw after each turn. Takes a good 5 minutes but it's possible. The good news is that it fixed the problem and it only took about 15-20 min to get everything back together. It's amazing how much easier it is to put it all back together.
