2009 f150 5.4 L V8 engine replacement
Hey everyone looking for some recommendations/advice
My truck is currently at a mileage of 146200 and now needs an engine replacement. We bought the truck used about a year and a half ago for $13k...
We took the truck to the ford dealership and they quoted us for $8k to do the whole thing and not going with that price. Recently a friend recommended a trusted local shop where the guy quoted us at $5,700. Got another recommendation from a friend who owns a business with several work trucks to use the shop he has used for years and said he just got an engine with 70k miles for $1,000 from this shop. Plan on going to that shop tomorrow to see what he could do for our situation.
Do you think it is worth the trouble of installing another engine considering the costs involved? The body of the truck itself is in great shape so that gives incentive to salvage, but putting an engine in this older truck brings the worry that a transmission or something else will fail next.
What would you do if you were in my situation?
