Wink

In my view, as most of you have said in this thread, for a cost of $15.00-$20.00 (assuming you can do it yourself), It's a no brainer. And even if you aren't able to do the relocation yourself, or don't know someone who can do it for you, take it and have it done. It's far better to be safe than sorry. It happened to me with No Warning at all. None, Nill, Notta. Just up and died on me, in the worst way, pulling out into traffic. My truck has been practically flawless. So I was Spazzing when it happened. And the funny thing is, It happened to me on Superbowl Sunday about 2:00P.M. in the afternoon. Had the truck towed to the dealer. The next afternoon I started to do some research, and low and behold.........here is this thread. So yea, just do it......

Yup, that is a bummer for sure which can be avoided by many of us thanks to your sharing the info.
I reviewed your previous threads and unless I missed it what motor do you have?

That is a great motor from what I've read and seen.
Had I known they were not offering that motor (in the F150) in the future when I bought my truck I would have likely purchased one just to hang on to it long term.
Crazy how your engine is almost twice the size of mine but gets about the same gas mileage....sheesh, hindsight huh?

Well, I just did the mod. Took less than an hour start to finish, but could have shaved 5-10 minutes if I had planned a little better. Kit wasn't due until next week but came in today's mail. So I looked at it, popped the hood, piddled around a bit, and said what the heck, it's a nice day, just for this kind of project.

Did it in my driveway, but had to make about a dozen trips to the shop in the back yard. Got a socket set and couple screw drivers, now need wire cutters/strippers, now need soldering iron and extension cord, etc. you get the picture.

All went as instructions, but will say the target wire to cut/splice/solder, is one of the stiffest 12 gage wires I've ever worked with.

By the way, my F27 was perfect condition.

Now, I get to reset all my radio presets and resync my phone. This may take longer than the mod.

Your radio and phone settings should be unaffected.

Playing with the truck today for a bit, too nice not to be outside.

Just some info, take it for what it's worth...

Pulled fuel pump relay (#8) to take an amp reading... at idle got about 6 amps.
Took an ohm reading on the relay coil.... 84 ohms

What caught my attention was the discoloration on one of the load side male terminals. Not too bad but, it probably shouldn't be there and am wondering if it has anything to do with the fuse issue. There might be some pitting action going on with the contacts. Will have to keep an eye on it. Few days ago looked at the fuse/socket and from what I could see, it looked OK.

So you put an amp meter from source to load of the relay socket?

Six amps seems very light to cause the problem seen.

I had considered put a smaller than 20amp fuse in position 27 and see at what point it blew, 15, 10, etc.

Still because I could never get an answer regarding the V6, I did the mod just for insurance.
