Nice videos you're making. They make rtv cleaner, btw.
I'm surprised you didn't remove the tire for a little more space.

Why did you put the RTV on the differential instead of the cover? I've always put my bead on the cover, stick two bolts through, then line up those bolts before mating the two surfaces so I don't smear anything. Did the G2 cover instructions say to do it like you did? If it doesn't leak then you're not wrong, I'm just curious.
Nice video BTW.

This seems like the best place to put this, so here goes: Have about 90k miles on my 2014 3.5L Ecoboost, FX4 SuperCab, so I decided to change out the gear oil in the rear pumpkin, I wanted to get a new diff cover to go along with the fluid change too. OK, so I'm an idiot who uses Amazon Prime very frequently, so I didn't even actually look under my truck to see what cover I needed, but instead, I trusted Amazon to tell me "This part fits your 2014 Ford F150 FX4." That was mistake #1. The cover it specified was Dorman #697-702, which has only 10 bolt holes, and is rather square in shape. Unfortunately, that's what I ordered. VERY SURPRISINGLY, Dorman's website also specifies the -702 for my truck.
After I realized my mistake, and took pictures of my d-shaped, 12-hole cover, I went to a local parts shop and got another Dorman cover. This time, they gave me #697-704, which LOOKED like exactly what I needed. This was mistake #2. Turns out that the -704 was just a wee bit too big! Gggrrr.
So by Saturday morning, I said, Screw it, I'll just put back on the old cover, which I did, and I'm Happy to say that I didn't strip out any bolts, and it doesn't leak!
But WTF, Dorman!? And also, WTF, local parts guy!? LOL

The best reason to get one of these would be a drain hole. The Dormans seldom have that because they are trying to be OEM-equivalent. Kinda silly by both Ford and Dorman if you ask me. I hope you have learned about Amazon and car parts. Their charts are not to be trusted. Try autoanything or the truck accessory sites, they won't steer you wrong.
