2009-2013 Good / bad build years?
I'm getting ready to replace my 1998 F150 XL and I'm looking for some opinions from owners of 2007-2013 model years. What I'm looking at are basic work trucks (meaning regular cabs with a long bed). I put maybe 5K a year on my truck. I use it mostly for:
- Hauling a couple cords of firewood a year
- Taking trash to my local transfer station every couple weeks
- Transporting camping gear for 8-12 people a few times a year
- General errands

How's she goin' eh?
I’d hold out and look for a 13+ coyote. I’ve had good luck with my 12’ but there have been issues reported on the 11 and 12 models.

look in the door at the build date and aim for a mid 13’ truck if it’s a coyote
mines a Jan build 13 and I have the infamous ticking, knock noise they claim is normal

I'd try to find a 13 or 14 with the 6.2L
Not an easy find, but I'd try.

I would get a 3.7 v6.. I have had this motor in two different vehicles both ford and Mazda. And it has never let me down.. And it really has plenty of power to get what you need done.

I vote for 13 5.0, 130000miles and only problem was alternator because I went alittle too deep in a mud pit..
I abuse my 2013 xlt base screw 4x4 5.0 with 2” level front rear, 315/70/17 tires and 3” raptor exhaust with mpt tunes.
It is a farm truck with barely any options and nothing has broke other than seat wear. Edit radio/speakers was trash so I upgraded
I tow a 5th wheel from Montana and back through the mountains and got 12mpg on my stock tires. About 5500lbs unloaded.
I do all my own oil and brakes and other maintenance. Next is spark plugs and free install 3.73 gears. I have 3.55
i change oil at 6-7k and Tran diffs at 100k. Up the tune once a month to 91 and run it offroad in the mountains. Then back to 87 tune for daily. Everyday its offroad in cutbacks and farm pastures. Bales and fence posts and small trailers. It is never clean, maybe for an hour...
Hope this helps
