Rear window defogger issue
Hey everyone,
Just bought my 2013 fx4 2 weeks ago, yesterday I got to my truck and the windows were fogged. I tried to turn on the rear window heater and the indicator light would not come on, went to the display for climate control and it would also not come on. I know its warm but it should come on right? I didn't see anything about it in the owners manual and the rear window was closed, has anyone seen this?

It's possible that somewhere in the PCM program that it will only allow the rear window defroster and side mirror heaters if the temperature is below XX degrees.

A couple months ago I had the same problem with my rear window defroster, I went to the dealer they had to replace the control module and the complete rear window (defective). That was on my 2013 King Ranch, it should still be under warranty take it to the dealer. Jim

I had the same issue too with my '12 FX4. I wasn't expecting this type of issue with a truck that has 16K miles on it. The repair took over two weeks to complete since no parts were in stock and the dealership had to get approval from Ford for each component. The first NEW replacement window that came in was defective from the factory and couldn't be used. A second rear window assembly had to be shipped in over night from out of state. This is my first Ford and I'm curious what kind of quality control Ford's suppliers have. The dealership was excellent but what they had to work with needs some improvement. I wish Acura made a full size truck! My seven year old MDX has been nearly flawless.

Well I guess it's a "normal" issue. I am more worried about taking it there and having them scratch my new truck (I know it sounds weird I'm just super protective over my vehicles). Also it's only 2 weeks old, I wish someone caught it during pdi, because I'm pretty sure it never worked

I'm happy that the truck was under warranty. If I had to pay for the repair out of pocket, dealer said that it would have been around $2000 to fix. At least my rear window didn't explode with my kid strapped into his seat right under it! That's a pretty serious issue

Be glad it doesn't turn on, I turned mine on and it shattered the rear window. $900 in parts and a week and a half later the warranty work was done, but the rear window leaked... back to the shop it went.
