Default 20" Black FX4 Rims (WARNING!)

Wanted to warn anyone with these rims.. BE-CAREFUL at any tire shop if your going to change tires!
My 1 month old truck took a nail in the side wall, went to replace the tire and the tire shop scratched the heck out of the rim! Tire shop made good on it and ordered a new rim...Cost them $400.00
I go pick it up today @ NTB and they hand me the rim and said good luck with it
They said they were un willing to mount it, but would pay for it to be mounted else where.
Others had suggested discount tires. 1st one I went to said no they cant do it either
Good year, Cassity tire, firestone, and tire america all declined... they all said black 20's are not able to be done without scratching...
Went to another discount tire--Bingo- they said no problem and mounted it up just fine
Whats the point... Ask upfront anytime you have to have the rim mounted if they can do it and not scratch it!
Hope this helps someone... I can't believe it was so dang hard to find someone willing to do the dang work

Didnt we have this same discussion over a week ago? I think i remember advising that if you just waited 48 hours, you could have dropped the wheel off at Discount and not have a FUBAR rim?

Why didn't you go to a Ford Dealer since they were paying?

I prefer to end my questions with a "question mark". Anyhow, herp derp, i did. Did you bother to read any of the advice you solicited in the OTHER thread you started on the same problem?

You got impulsive and it bit you in the butt. Im assuming this is your first vehicle with fancy pants wheels? The company that makes Roadforce balancing machines and touch less wheel machines is called Hunter. For the past 15 years, they have maintained a website that shows shops that use their equipment. All of this equipment is old news. All you had to do was call around to solve your problem.

I have been avoiding getting my tires rotated, I am afraid the dealer will scratch them up removing them, they are so delicate, but I love the way they look.

Why not do it yourself? Plastidip a socket or run some electrical tape over it.

Belle tire scratched all of my silver fx4 wheels and I buffed all but kne out. They ordered me a reman and they scratched that one.. finally ordered me a factory wheel and they paid discount tire to mount it for me. It didnt get scratched, but the new wheel is two shades darker. Fml

NTB ordered the wheel from ford, it was shipped to them from the supplier in michigan ..
From what I've read thru this forum, dealers have messed up rims as well

Thank you for the information on hunter tire machines. this info is very helpful so now myself and others that may not have been aware of the "old news" are better informed.
