Default 2 ton jack

I have two ton floor jack will that hold our f150 up?? Also where do you place the jack? I have never owned truck prior to this so have never jacked up a truck. Sorry I'm not up to knowing exactly how much our trucks weigh.

Also how do you get the center caps off STX? I put flat head in there but didn't seem to wanna budge.

2 ton should be fine, I put it under the spring perch or diff for the rear and diff or A arm.

I dunno - the manual specifically states to not jack the truck up under the rear differential. I know a lot of mechanics do but the manual says it's a no-no.

Not sure where you are jacking it up, front/back? But this spots fine in the back. Its where I jacked up for my brakes. Near the U bolts.

The center caps suck...they are on there, its better to have a tool that has an angled tip, like an interior trim tool. Take a piece ofcardboard or something to put against the rim, so you can pry against it, without scratching the rim...at least that's what I did when I did my brakes.

Just jack it up under the frame rails, and for the center caps the should be a plastic cap on a tapered bar in you tool kit (its the handle for the jack) at least thats what i had for my 08.

Frame rails are too tall for most floor jacks unless you shim it. I have lifted from all points I mentioned. I know it says not to use diff but it also says not to speed. lol

I have been lifting vehicles for years by the diff so I can work on both sides quickly. If I am doing something more involved, I will jack up using the diff and then use jack stands.

Most likely it won't hurt but if the diff cover moves, you break the gasket and your diff will leak, that's why everyone says not to lift from the diff.

If your truck isn't lifted, you can raise the sides by the frame rail with a normal jack (18" or higher lift). There's actually an arrow where you should lift from.

Ok I appreciate all the input. I'm gonna try it Tom. Maybe I'll look for those arrows.
