Default 2 Questions about Torqueing lug nuts & ujoints

I have some of the snap, crackle, pop when I put it in reverse, sounds like the springs and drive shaft are going twist off......LOL.. I only have 5,500KM's and will be 12 months old in Aug 2013......seems to be getting louder. It did it first few months I had it only 2 times, I then added my 34" tires and it went away till a month ago

I read that if you Torque the wheel Lug Nuts this will go away, if so is it 140 ft lbs for the lug nuts???

I also read that if you torque the U-Bolt Caps to 150 ft lbs it will go away

Has this worked for anyone?????????

Thanks Everyone!

Grant

150ft Lbs is the lug nut torque, I am not sure what you mean by u-bolt caps??
U joints don't have straps on our trucks as we have a flange that bolts to the pinion flange instead of straps to hold the u joints in. That torque spec is 76 Ft lbs so I would not do 150 on those or they will snap.

I would unbolt the shaft at the pinion, slide it out of the front yoke and grease the splines real good, see if that helps. Dont forget to mark the front/back where the shaft meets the flange and the yoke up front so you get it back together right

Mine is going in the dealer on monday for just that reason.
They did the first TSB that (Torque pignon nut more) and didn't solve my problem, now they are opening the diff to replace the collapsible sleeve and adding or changing a washer...
Take it to the dealer.
