Default 2" leveling kit question?

Got everything disconnected and bolted spacer on top of strut. I then slid strut into place. The top
lined-up in upper holes. I couldn't insert lower part of strut into it's position. It was Hung up on lower
"A" arm and I couldn't get the lower arm any lower. So I took spacer off and decided to try it later in the week, when I have more time. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Let me know how that works out.. haha... there is another thread.. and I posted the question.. we ran into the same problem this weekend... we had the tie rod off, the upper ball joint, the sway bar.. Like you said.. it wasn't even close.. We even tried a spring compressor, and got the spring to compress, but couldn't get the strut compressed to fit..
We fought it for a few hrs.. and it should have been a 30min install.. finally put it back to stock...
Ours was a 4x4.. The only thing we didn't try was taking the lower arm off the spindle.. but still not sure that would have helped.. someone mentioned using a bottle jack.. but we didn't go there.. I did put a good pry bar on the lower arm and couldn't get it to move any lower. Its like the they change the lower control arm.. there is also a good video posted that shows the install.. but it has a different control arm.. ours looked taller, and it has the pocket the bottom of the strut fits into.. we just couldn't get it into the pocket.. I guess you could remove the control arm completely and then get it realined.. (we weren't going there... )
Good Luck.. I'm interested to see how this is supposed to go.. '
Bryan

Edit.. I don't even think ours was a 2in.. it was more like 1 1/2.. (pro comp)

I had same idea with taking the arm off. Mine is also 4x4 with the steel arm. Argh! Also tried spring compresser with no success, although it was an inside coil compresser. It only pulled the coils and not the strut. Going to try to compress the strut before install. I'll let you know how it works.

Haha.. sounds like we were both on the same track... the issue is going to be holding the strut while you get it in.. I was thinking some big zip ties.. and set it up like most gas shocks come.. once its in. then cut the zip tie.. and then the spring compressor...
Someone else has had to have had this issue before now... or was there a running change on lower control arms... haha..

2"Leveling kit is on, check. 305/55/20 Terra-Grapplers on, check.
A set of good pry bars, a BFH, and a great friend is all I needed.

Did you disconnect the lower ball joint and sway bar link from the lower control arm. Basically removing the steering knuckle. That will definately allow you to get the bottom of the strut in.

The instructions for the Auto Spring kit says to use a small bottle jack between the lower control arm and the upper strut tower.I fought with mine for a while then finally used a bottle jack and the struts went right in..

Did mine last week. Wish the instructions told me to get a spring compressor before i started. once i bought a cheap $12 spring compressor from harbor freight the job was easy breezy.
