2.5" Leveling Kit

First off, as a new F150 owner I just want to say this forum is GREAT for people legitimately helping and giving good information.

With that said... I keep seeing a lot of talk about 2.5" leveling kits... Is that a standard "thing" to do to f150s? Also... I installed a leveling kit on my old Chevy Avalanche and it put a lot of strain on the balljoints and hubs/bearings... Will a leveling kit do the same thing to the f150? Thanks in advance!

Yeah for me leveng fit my budget. I did a 2.5 inch lifht and added 33s (tires) and it lifted a good 4 inches. I removed the step bars lol I did it for off road reasons. Drives way better . Added an edge programmer to fix speedo readings.

And no extra wear on suspension components? (This is probably my biggest concern)

There's no guarantee that parts won't wear out early, but it's not real common for it to happen. I've leveled my last 3 F150's and haven't had any part failures. A guy up the road has my old 06 w/ 100k miles, still on the original ball joints and CV's.
But a 2" kit will put less strain on things than a 2.5" kit will.

Pucks

When i got mine I went ahead and did the pucks in the front and added a leaf in the rear. At this point I find myself looking for shocks/coils to raise my front end with the appropriate gear. It has shown wear on my front end and has only been installed for apx 30k miles. Take it as you will but, look into a true 2" level which cost about 300-400 bones.

I can feel the wear and tear in my shocks as they grow stiffer and stiffer. My front end now shudders from time to time almost as if it has the death wobbles of a jeep.

In the end I would say spend the money don't do puck, but that is my opinion and others may have had more successful experiences. Or you could be that one like me that it slowly destroys my front end.

I just leveled my SCrew yesterday. Netted 2" of ride height increase with the BOSS coilovers. Coilovers are much more spendy but the ride is outstanding. You could dial in whatever amount of height increase from stock to 3" with these...similar to offerings from Fox and Icon with less cost...while still 2-3 times the cost of a spacer.

Premature wear? Sure. How much? Don't know honestly as only time will tell. Gotta pay to play!

Well darn... That was the deciding factor and part of why i got rid of my old truck was too much maintenance.... Maybe I'll do a little more research later. I still have way too many mods to do before I consider ride height anyway. I think today is window tinting and 6x8 speakers... Hoping they sound decent with the factory head unit :)

Ha, I know that feeling. I stumbled into this deal on coilovers and couldn't pass it up. Like NASSTY said, anything can happen. My '06 was 100% stock when she needed new lower balljoints on both sides @ 58k miles. I then put a 1.5" level on her, drove it another 10k and traded her in on this '13.

I was aiming for 1.5" again, but we netted 2" and the driveline angles look fine to me. I might drop them a bit just for looks...not for issues with the driveline.

Where are most of you guys buying the 2" kit at? I just purchased a '14 FX4 and think the rake is a little too much. One of my friends is a Rough Country dealer and it seems they only offer the 2.5" kit.
