I love the electric locker! Nice to have for sure!

At least get the Off Road Package if you get a Lariat. I wanted a Lariat for the cooled seats, but I absolutely hated the wood trim in the Lariat. I wouldn't of minded it if it had the darker wood like the 2010. The basketball court is just plain awful.

I don't like chrome at all, so the FX4 was a no brainer for me.

I just bought my FX4 ecoboost on Friday. I have done several 150 mile trips all in Ohio. These trips were all highway driving and relatively flat ground. All of them were round trip so I should have been able to negate the headwind/tailwind and uphill/downhill variable pretty much.

On the last trip I reset the computer getting on to the highway and checked it as I got off the highway. Speed varied between 65-72 the entire time. Cruise control was on 80+% of the time.

I was surprised to find that the highest mpg that I averaged was 18! The sticker on the truck shows 21 on the highway, but I didn't get anywhere near that... So yesterday I went down the road at 55 mph and the computer showed only 17.7 for that short stretch as an average...

Is this normal or will it get better with engine break in? (no cover on the bed yet)

Thanks!

It might get a little better (1-2mpg), but that is what these trucks get in anything but 100% ideal situations... You can read all of the post on this forum and others, but they will not change the physics of the situation...

Bed cover will have no positive effect and the weigh would most likely lower the MPG a little, but it would be hard to measure...
