My Ecoboost Pictures and Review
I just got my 2011 FX4 Supercrew with the 5.5 ft box in white on Wednesday, November 2nd. Truck has the stock tires and 18" wheels. 3.73 gears. Just me in it with maybe 100 lbs of gear.
Very happy with truck so far. Took a 204 mile trip today on rural 2 lane road. Only 4 traffic lights and 4 stop signs. First 90 miles was in hilly terrain with some gusty winds and I averaged around 70 MPH. I was at around 17 MPG at that point (this is mostly uphill). Then about 40 miles at around 50-60 MPH. 55 MPH zone for 20 miles and hilly and icy roads which I used a few 4wd for a few spurts. The final leg was 60-65 MPH (mostly downhill). Mixed in between was 5 mile and 12 mile stretch of snow covered dirt road were I went around 20 MPH. Elevation varied from 4500 to 7500 ft to give an idea of the terrain I covered. Several icy passes in which I used 4wd.
Mileage according to computer at fill up was 20.5 MPG and when hand calculating I ended up at 20.9 MPG. Truck now has like 550 miles on it total. Trip B for liftetime is 19.1 MPG.
Very happy with the truck. Very similar mileage to my Cummins with cheaper gasoline while riding way nicer. Same trip minus the dirt road netted me around 21 MPG in the Cummins.
Thought I would share a positive report for once. Seems like a negative reports around here.
I am putting 275/70R18 BFG ATs on tomorrow. I'm interested to see what the mileage difference is. Might have to make the same trip just to compare.

Boost :)
I make the same trip multiple times a year for my job (20+ times actually). I've only done it once since I bought the truck but got almost 21mpg then and that was the day after I bought the truck. I have to head up to Sherman from Austin tomorrow, so hopefully that mileage is still as good after 6500 miles now

Here is an update with pics. 1st two are from Sunday.
The rest are from today with new wheels and tires.
The wheels are ATX Crawl 18x8.5 with the +15mm offset.
The tires are 275/70R18 BFG ATs
Pretty happy with the look. Thinking I could use the 1.5" level kit in the front though. I do like that the tires don't stick out much if at all. I don't really care for the tires sticking out 2" past the fenders.
I like the way the wider 295/305 tires look, but I drive a lot of snow and ice so I figured the 275 was a wiser choice. Also figured the narrower tire would be less detrimental to fuel economy and the tires themselves were cheaper. Very happy with the BFGs. Drove some snowy, icy forest service roads today and performed great.
Mileage seems to be about the same from what I've seen so far.

Keep us posted about changes in mileage. I'm thinking about stepping up to 275/70/18 but I'm concerned about what it'll do to my gas mileage.
Oh, by the way, nice truck!

I have these tires on my 09 FX4 and they reduced mileage for sure. I noticed they do perform well in the snow though even though they are not snow rated in that size. I wouldn't do the level

I will keep an eye on mileage. Did drive like 130 miles today and was still averaging about 18 MPG. Most of it was hilly and windy interstate at 75 MPH. Some was hilly forest service road in 4wd. I'm happy with that.

Hey, thanks for all the pic's and info on the EB mpg!
The truck and those new wheels and tires look really great!
And yes, narrower does work better in the 'real' snow areas--with less flotation.
I, too, enjoy those USFS roads and trails, and I also have a 'backyard' full of them.
I am still debating over FX4 and Lariat for a new '12.
