It always amazes me that people think the many tens of millions of dollars Ford spent optimizing the engine tune for a balance of performance and reliability can be improved upon by some company renting a warehouse by the airport somewhere with a dyno and a few employees. They may be able to squeeze out some extra horsepower at some unuseful extreme of the power curve but there is a price to be paid elsewhere.

Having said that, I do hope the OP gets the problem resolved and it may have nothing at all to do with the tune.

You don't have to tell them there computer tells them right away if the CPU has been altered in any way(currently or in the past). I had my truck hooked up to there computer and it was the first thing he was looking for. He explained to me as we were driving w/computer connected all the checks he was running. It seems FORD is well aware of owner tinkering.

bayourunner,

PM me your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info, and I'll look into some options.

I am amazed that no one has even offered an idea and would prefer to worry about "messing" with stuff....if that's the case pull of the leveling kits, tires, exhaust, and hula-hoop girl on the dash...I mean, really guys??

----Bayou, I haven't heard the noise on my 13' with about 7200miles (tuned since about 2500K. I do every so often hear the turbo bark if I make it do it.
When does the turbos bark? Say going 45 in 5th gear and give enough gas to downshift into 3rd, do you hear a trumpet bark just for a second?

I haven't heard it with the T3 tune at all. Lvl 5 it was about 45 mph, kind of like a scrub---the more I heard it the more it sounded like a wastegate flutter...maybe not a bark.

Go 45, accelerate at about wot to 3300 rpm, back off...and sound of "errp errp" really quick....less than 1 second in sound.

So far I haven't heard anything odd on T3 and it's been for about 140-150 miles so far.

There is some really ignorant comments on this thread. If you have a good tune from a reputable company/tuner, your not going to have much more wear and tear on the engine than the stock tune. In fact many of us have data logged many of these tunes and most of them have less knock counts than the stock tune. So saying a tune is going to shorten the life of your engine is total BS.
Now the tranny, rearend ect, ya its probably a little harder on them, but not so much that its going to cause many more problems than normal. There are some that have put many many miles on their trucks with tunes, that have had zero issues. Ive put 7k tuned miles on mine and runs better than ever.

Pass 150k first. Tunes are fun and get that extra power but I've never seen any upgraded engine last over 150k. Better off just leaving it stock

I cannot comment on what you have said in this thread. Nor can I comment on any other post in this thread.

But I do have a question for you on your post.....

I have gathered from your comment that a tune will not hurt your engine if done from a reputable company/tuner. But you said that the tranny and rear end is a different story..... How's that? If any changes done by a reputable place, shouldn't that work the same as the engine tune?

Not trying to start an argument.... I don't know enough about this stuff to get into this chat..... I just don't see any difference? So if I could be enlightened on the topic, I would appreciate it.... Thanx

He's just meaning that the extra power is more stress on tje transmission and rearend etc. and that also totally depends on your driving habbits.

A tune that helps the truck run better is certainly better on the truck at any level than a stock tune that doesn't keep the truck from going into limp mode.
