I was really confused watching the MPG reports on this forum prior to purchasing my truck. On the high end, some folks were reporting 22-23MPG. On the low end, 11-12MPG.

So, how does my 44,000 miles 2010 Supercab 6.5 bed with a 5.4 engine do? All of the above.

11.5 to 22.5. Best mileage is cruising about 48 miles per hour. I broke 22 mph a few times going 60 mph with a tail wind.

The 11.5 to 12.5 MPG, cold, wet, short distance stop and go driving in town. Sheesh. You're jerking 6000 pounds of steel to a start, then a stop, then a start, etc. It's just not going to be great mileage.

Even though the gov has cracked down on it the sticker will still be over estimated because for the test they use premium fuel with no ethanol in a controlled environment with no hills, wind ect. All of those things I mentioned sap mpg.

My only mod is the all terrain tires I put on shortly after I purchased it. They are only a little heavier and 1" bigger than stock.

Not to happy with mpg right now

Give it Some time. Mine was new in 13 screw with eco and Max tow. At 18000 km it's like a switch got thrown and my mileage increased by about 20%

This ^^.

Always amazes me how people don't drive at different speeds, see the impact on mpg, then IF they care, adjust their driving habits.

The math on the above for those that are challenged...

1000 / 22 = 45.45 gallons and 16 hours and 40 minutes of driving.

1000 / 17 = 58.82 gallons and 14 hours and 17 minutes of driving.

At $3.25 per gallon, that's a savings of $ 43.45. It cost 2 hours and 23 minutes. IF you were on a long drive, you could make the argument that it was worth $43.45 to arrive 2 hours and 23 minutes earlier. More likely, it's a bunch of drives, and you're only as in a few minutes here and there, but saving real money.

I often drive at 65 in 70 mph zones, stay to the right, and smile.

Good post. We live in a society where everyone is in a rush. I have found with this truck and my last one, being a SD; that at a certain speed the powertrain is in its happy spot. I'm a Ford guy and have being driving Ford trucks exclusively since the mid 90's.
Every Ford truck that I've had, that happy spot has been at around 1900 on the tach. It has usually translated to a highway speed of around 105 to 110 km/hr. Which is about 65 to 70 mph. Push it much faster than that and mileage drops right off quickly.

I'm about to finish a tank on my 3.7l and trending 13.7 mpg. All city this tank and 1 load to city dump. My mileage has been plummeting lately. Got to pull and check the plugs soon. I should have got the 6.2 at this rate. 40k miles

2012 4x2 Screw 3.7l with 24,000 miles. Leveled with 17 x 8.5" aftermarket wheels.

Last couple of tanks have been at 18.3 mpg (mixed 60/40 highway/city). My 50 mile round trip commute to work is loaded with hills too.

Mileage has improved since surpassing 10,000 miles. As everyone else here has already pointed out, just give it some time. The 3.7l is a great all around engine.
