2013 leaking water pump
I know this is an old post but I googled to see if this was common. My 2013 has 11400 miles (not driven a lot) started smelling burnt antifreeze, dealer did pressure check and said water pump was leaking. So far had transmission work already done at about 9000 miles now this. I've owned several f-150s previously but I'm pretty disappointed that I've had to have these repairs done so soon on a new vehicle.

125,000 kilometres on mine and water pump went ,,,I changed antifreeze to avoid this , think this is just a flaw ,,let's all of us thank Ford for us paying for their flaws,,, I hope there is no more surprises on the 5.0 l ,,,

I fixed the leaking coolant reservoir issue earlier this year, and now my water pump is going out (see post https://www.f150forum.com/f70/2011-5...2/#post4596670). I didn't have any leaks...just a metal sound as if the pulley was off. Did anyone else have an issue like this?
Also, if I had to replace the pump, do I have to remove the fan on the front because there seems to be enough room without taking off a bunch of parts.

Just had my water pump replaced on my 2014 5.0L, it had 15,900 miles on it. Was weeping out the pump hole.

My '12 has 85,000 kms (52k miles). Brought to dealer to check noisy idler wheel. Turned out one idler was changed and then they found the water pump was also making a lot of noise. Weird how this noise wasn't there one day, but started the next. No warning and got noticeably worse over a week. All fixed on warranty

32000 on the nose mine started to leak (last Thursday). Did a bit of recon and could see coolant running down the snout of the pump, dripping onto the harmonic balancer. Brought it in today figuring it would be replaced under warranty. Nope....bone dry. No traces of coolant from the weep hole or anywhere else, except the few drops o top of the oil filter. Dealer left the service ticket open and put tracer dye in it so when it starts leaking again they can be sure to nail the leak down.
Just like a jeep I had...chased an intermittent leak for 80k miles. Turned out to be a hairline crack in the housing that finally opened up enough to leak consistently.

How's she goin' eh?
Someone else asked, are the water pumps on these coyote motors easy to replace? I'm outta warranty and don't wanna get raped by the dealer when the time comes.

If out of warranty I would definitely seek a private shop to do the work. Looks relatively easy to do and shouldn't be that bad of a bill.
Example I just did a blend air actuator on my father-in-law's 2009 expedition. The dealer quoted $1,000. I did the job in about 20 minutes start to finish and a $42 part from amazon. I counted the tools I used since they were in the console tray; a total of 5. Dealer just quotes off book time which isn't realistic in most cases. A good shop will give a break versus the stealership.
