Back in my day, a fully loaded truck meant it had an AM radio and cigarette lighter..........

Armstrong power steering and 2/60 air conditioning.

Probably not as much resistance to change, as it is caution concerning the well proven tendancy of new technologies to have unexpected "bugs" that buyers of the first few year models have to endure until things are worked out.

It ain't hate. It ain't resistance to change......it is just well founded caution, especially with Fords recent reluctance to give after warranty assistance that they used to be well known for. That's all.

Considering any of the technologies on the ecoboost "new" and unproven are laughable. The new 5.0 has just as much that is unproven and new, which is next to nothing. It's just new to half ton gas trucks because it isn't a pushrod v8.

Hopefully ford didn't shortcut the design. That's the only concern I have. But again, that's just as risky with the 5.0.

Turbo problems? No. Wastegates stuck open? Yes. Bad news is they come as a unit so I get new turbos! Yay! But downside is Turbo swap is a 10 hour job. Good thing it's all warranty work!

Were you experiencing a severe loss of power? Any codes come up? Another member on here has been putting up with reduced power since a TSB was done with no reasoning as to why. Maybe this has happened to his as well.

Ford hasn't had a pushrod V8 in a half-ton in almost 15 years.

I was pulling a full size truck on a trailer up an incline and felt a shutter, then looked out my passenger mirror and saw black smoke puff out like a diesel, my gas pedal went to the floor, then lost power substantially. Basically with the waste gates failed open I was running on the v6 with no boost. Horrible situation lol. It threw out a P0299 under boost code and another one... Body module data corrupt fault but I can't remember the # for the second fault. Waste gates had fluttered a bit on me when changing elevations.... I moved from AZ at appx 3000 ft up to over 6500 feet in NM. Supposed to get my truck back Monday so ill keep you posted

I just got an updated tune last night, and driving to work this morning CEL came on. Later I plugged me tuner in to check out the code and it was showing the P0299 code. I didn't experience any loss of power or anything though. I cleared it flashed back to stock, drove it about 25 miles and nothing yet. Hope I dont have to take it in. Were you tuned when this happened?

Update: still don't have the truck back. Should get it Thursday. Turns out the drivers side turbo grenaded and took out my cat. Only have 30,000 miles on my 2012. Hopefully all warranty work.
I was on high altitude towing tune with the Edge CTS
