Default '09 SuperCrew cab water leak - anyone have this problem????

I have a major leak on the passenger side front seat area that leaks from an unknown internal area. Rain water drips out of the grab handle. Doesn't take much rain to develop a leak. Only happens when truck is parked. I initially thought it was the top corner of the windshield causing the problem.

Anyone else had this before I take to dealer to fix? As of 3 wks ago these were no TSBs for this problem.

Thanks for your feedback!

Rod

I do not have that problem, but you need to take it to the dealer to fix. Have them run it through a brushless car wash as that should replicate the problem.

I've only had my Plat for about 10 days but I've been in two heavy rain storms and two car washes - no leaks anywhere. Good luck at the Dealer and let us know what you find.

Yes, I do have the power moonroof. I have inspected it several times and the seals look good. Will try the water hose test on that area again.

Thanks,

My wifes grand chrokee does the same thing. Something to do with a bad sunroof drain. Of course they cant duplicate it but it leaks out of the grab handle as you drive

I've had my 09 for about a week and it has rained every day except one. No leaks. However, in a possibly related issue, I notice there is no rubber weather stripping around the windshield. Thinking this was a Ford QC problem or mistake, I went to the dealership and realized every model of the 09 trucks was like that. Just a thin, clear bead of permatex-like calking. Check this out and see if that may be why you have a leak. I'm thinking about adding a thicker bead of calking around the windshield. Thoughts?

I've had mine since mid November and I've put 21,000 miles in snow, rain, mud, car washes and i haven't had any leaks on mine so far.

My boss has an '09 Plat with sunroof and my buddy has an '08 GMC Denali with a sunroof. We had torrential downpours a couple of weeks ago, about 4 inches of rain in one day alone. Both of their trucks leaked water around the sunroof.

The important thing is to have the dealer properly treat the wet areas to kill or prevent mold. Best of luck.
